That means it may be a software issue, a WINDOWS side software issue. If you got into safe mode then your cards 2D is working fine (which was also indicated by the very fact that you could see your system POST.) If that is the case you need to expound more on the circumstances that lead to your delema, such as new drivers, OS changes, any system OC'ing (BIG one.) Spill the beans!

Right before windows starts loading you press f8, then you chose Safe mode from the menu, regular safe mode.

What is your current power supply?? What was the old card your removed for this GT??? Did you test this thing before trying to install the NV5??? If not that was really stupid...It may have had issues before and now you will never be able to claim them....

That is all good....

Did you remember to plug all the 4 pin molexes in the right place (back in)??? The GT AGP has 2 right??? or is that just the ultra??? If it does have 2 make sure on not a Y and use separate lines from the PSU...

You got in safe mode with your 6800? If so, your card is FINE! It is a windows problem I would assume, I knew somthing was wrong when it froze during load up, I suggest you back up your data and format or find whats wrong with your windows in safe mode. In safe mode Uninstall nvidia's drivers, reboot with your 6800, reinstall drivers, see if that works, if not I think you would have to format.

Congrats, it must be quite frightening to brake a 6800GT, especially for your bank account.

My little 6800GT you won't break down, will you? I hope not...
