Take out the card, re-assemble, try again, first thing I would do, and the NV silencer should fit the PNY 6800GT, my buddy has the same card with the same heatsink on it.

Did you apply some thermal compound on the GPU core before putting the stock cooler back on? I don't mean to condescend but the question must be asked.

Yup, I put the compound that came with the cooler on it. I even tried to reapply the thermal tape that they used on the outer heatsinks. I just cant imagine why this wont work. All i did was remove the heatsink.... wtf. I dont know how everyone can OC and mod there stuff..... every damn time I try to make this pc better it bites me in the Ar$e. Too top it off I bought the card on ebay and PNY wont cover it..

If it's any consolation PNY wouldn't cover it no matter where you bought it, you voided the warranty when you removed the stock heatsink.

i'm in the same situation i bought a card from ebay (370) with an nv5 silencer installed and it gave me artifaacts. seller of course said it was working when he sent me the card.
i sent the card to bfg anyways yust don't mention the aftermarket fan, mount the original fan and send it to PNY you don't need a recipt and hopefully they'll send you a new one look at my thread:

With my PNY 6800GT I had to file a corner of the voltage regulator's heatsink to get it to make even contact.

I don't know if theres any indicators that show if you removed the stock HS or not built into the card...... and i know how much everyone here will b*tch at me for saying this....

but i think you can still get it RMA'd/Warrenty replaced..... just say "i don't know what happened its not working" and send it back.... whats the worst that could happen? they say oh you messed with it and mail u the card back?

odds are very good you will get a new one, unless theres some seal you broke when the heatsink came off....

exactly thhere seems to be no seal between the heatsink and the card the only way of knowing is if you mount it the wrong way.

i sent mine to bfg i got nothing to loose and everithing to gain.

There is no seal. The biggest problem about getting it RMA'd is having a proper receipt. They will not accept a receipt fro paypal or ebay. So I need to try and get ahold of the seller on ebay and see if he is a PNY dealer... if not I would need something from the dealer he bought it from .....

Any beeps from your motherboards.

I doubt u have damaged something or it must be static charge.

The same thing happened recently with my motherboard.

As for RMA.. Piece of cake. Just make sure the resellers arent here to read ur posts.

Chill!!!

No beeps ... as soon as it goes into windows I have nothing. Only thing I could guess, after a few have said it, is static. I never felt any ... ..

You would never feel ESD, that's what sucks about it. In the future try to grab your case where its not painted if you're too lazy to use an ESD wriststrap or can't find one. Somehow separate yourself from carpeting when you're digging around in the computer, and ALWAYS do your best to touch only neutral parts of your PCB.

I am curious though... you say it will post and make it all the way to windows but fail before it loads? Have you tried safemode? And do you see ANYTHING at all during post?

Edited: for sloppy spelling and grammar

It's still Posting but crashing during windows, I say try safe mode or try it in another computer.
