Nuclear weapon recommendations

I got my evil scientist license today and was thinking of taking out a mid size city. I don't know, maybe one around population 500,000-1,000,000. Any advice to how many megatons I should go? Should I go missle mounted or arial bomb? Of course if I go with the bomb I'd have the extra expense of getting a plane and then some henchmen to fly it. I'd hate to spend the extra money since I just got my liar built in this exinct volcano. What should I do?

25-40 should be nice. Don't forget, a midair detenation is best...probably somewhere around 3000 feet.

no one uses arial bombs anymore

there is a web site (well, there used to be, it might be gone since 9/11) that will simulate blast areas

1 MT is more than enough

Ugh. Nuclear weapons are so 20th century. It's all about biological warfare baby! Poisoning the water supply and such. 😀

I'm taking this thread VERY seroiusly. I have notified your local authorites as well as homeland security. This is not a matter to be parodying about.😉

You don't even need a Mega ton. 3 bombs of 100k ton will do it for you easily.
Remember the bombs over Japan? they were in the order of 15 - 20k tons/each.

Little Boy = 13k tons.
Fat Man = 20k tons.

Go for the neutron bomb, get rid of the nasty people & leave their stuff...

The problem is you would need several thousand of them for one city. Its effective combat range is only about 690m. I remember hearing somewhere to extend that range to another 500m, the size of the bomb would increase, and it would be to big to use.

Edit:

from Wikipedia

These same authorities say that the common perception of the neutron bomb as a "landlord bomb" that would kill people but leave buildings undamaged is greatly overstated. At the conventional effective combat range (690 m) the blast from a 1 kt neutron bomb will destroy or damage to the point of inutility almost any civilian building. Thus the use of neutron bombs to stop an enemy attack, which requires exploding large numbers of them to blanket the enemy forces, would also destroy all buildings in the area.

I know this is wrong, but I seriously hope that John Ashcroft comes to your house and takes away your PC for posting this thread.

and i hope he detonates the nuclear weapon accidentally at that very moment

1 MT warheads fused for airburst launched from space platform in high orbit using a large caliber rail gun.

You're thinking too small... what's wrong with the tried-and-true massive subterranean drill with a bigass nuke strapped to it? You kids these days...
GUARDS! Seize him!

GUARDS! Seize him!

Why thank you for divulging your entire plan! Now I must escape, return and have a one on one battle with you, ultimately defeating you at which point some type of security force will arrive right at the moment of your death and wrap things up.

A few hours later I will be making sweet love to the inevitable heroine who has assisted me throughout. 🙂

nice parody, but i think you will get more effective coverage by using multiple smaller warheads a la big @$$ muliwarhead icbms of the 70's and 80's
