I'm new here, and will probably get "bashed" for these comments ,but here goes. I mod ,and admin on a few sites with large memberships, these are DSS sites, not directly related to fulltime computer info.I probably have compiled about 10,000 posts,so I feel qualified to comment. The negative flaming comments can give a site a bad name real quick. The original poster made a slight error. He apologized. The follow up comments about "win 31",and "Windoze" are in VERY poor taste.I had a much better admiration for this place until I read this thread.Bottom line,if you get irritated with posters who fail to read FAQ'S,and ask redundant questions, then stop answering "help posts"..........If you truly enjoy helping, then just learn to overlook the inevitable..........:)I dont mean to be too critical, especially from a forum "newbie",but it really does look bad......This place has too much to offer to have a bad rep......:)

Jerboy is not a newbie so the newbie factor is not a big deal in this. I usually take a look at the post count for the original poster and go lighter on newbies. They dont always see the FAQ link (especially before there was a link to it) or the search feature. I think the Win 3.1 posts were bad too, but not in the same way you did. I just thought they werent as funny as intended. :)

All in all, welcome to the board, but get used to flames flying around the internet. We didnt invent the flames you see, we make the flames you see brighter*
EDIT: I just wanted to say that 286's rocked :D

*I just want to apologize to whatever company made the commercial I just ripped off. . . Wait, no, I dont apologize, but nice commercials :p

Being new here,I am not sure how your "Title structure" works.I'm reasonably sure your title is a result of a post count, whether or not you have control panel access,I do not know.If you are fortunate enough to have access, there is a "delete post" option that I have personally used many, many times, that guarantees a philosophy of "No negative posting"..Makes every one feel equal, and not belittled, also lets the "Rah Rah" posters know it wont be tolerated....Just my .02 worth, from a Anandtech newbie (But a Delphi,Ezboard,Vbulletin old timers perspective...:)

No control panel access from me. Moderators only, and they are anonymous. Elite status comes from basically helping a lot of people and being a big constructive part of the AT community. I was nominated and the mods thought I was good enough. Im not sure who was asleep at the wheel for that one, but its kinda cool.

Anyhow, moderate flaming is allowed here. Personaly atacks are frowned upon and if the mods thought the flaming was bad enough they would do something about it. If you really think it was that bad either pm "Anandtech Moderator" or make a post in Forum Issues with a link to this thread. They will look it over and do what they see fit.

Anyhow, I dont see a reason to continue this here, so pm me if you really want to discuss this further with me.
