Sounded like a great idea Mucman, sucks that it isn't working out. Out of curiousity, how much music do you have? I'm on dial up and I can imagine it would take me forever to get the list.
Oh well... maybe I will get it working better someday... (lower quality files). I got 6800 mp3s which is around 540 albums. We got about 1000CD's in the house though. I prefer to rip only my CDs though.
Just for the curious folks out there...
To get to my site 3 machines in my house are required
1 - The Freesco router box (486 DX50) doing NAT and port forwarding
2 - Cyrix 366 256M web server... also hosts mucmail.com (FreeBSD)
3 - P150 32M file server with 60G of mp3s. (FreeBSD)
The /mp3 directory of my andromeda site is acutally a mounted share off of the file server. The entire network is 100BaseT. The machines have plenty of power to do this, it is merely the bandwidth that is
slowing it down. Glad you people enjoy it, because it did take a bit of work to setup... I knew nothing about Apache and VirtualHosts, nor did I know anything about NFS, but this is how you learn
