Now that's what I call a benefits package

Slew Foot

Lifer
My wife will be starting a new job in the next couple months, which aside from doubling her salary, provides quite possibly the most ridiculous benefits package Ive ever seen in a job. Seriously, you have to be an illegal immigrant working at the DMV in CA to have a package like this:

Health Insurance: $0 payroll deduction, add spouse, all children, parents, and step-parents
Copay- $0 all in network services, $5 prescription drug

Dental Insurance: $0 payroll deduction, add spouse, all children, parents, and step-parents
Copay- $0 all in network services, $2000 orthodontic coverage/year

Life Insurance: $1,000,000 policy covered by employer

Long-term disability: 50% of income covered, additional coverage may be purchased.

Child Care: Up to 35 days/year of in house care can be reserved

Education Fund: $3000 annually for educational expenses

Vacation: 3-5 weeks/yr depending on years worked, 1 week educational leave, 1 week sick leave. Unused time with unlimited accrual, can be paid out at retirement.

Maternity/Paternity: 12 wks per qualifying event

Retirement:
DBP: Vested after 5 years, accumulates at 2% salary/yr, can be paid out at age 60.
Savings plan: 5% of total income placed into savings, vested after 5 years.

Post-retirement medical: Medical benefits are retained for life if retired with more than 15 years of service.

A few other random things like commuter expense reimbursement and the like, but dang, essentially free health care and a pension for life. Glad I got myself a sugar momma🙂

Nice! That's one of the reasons I'm doing a military career, that pension is freaking amazing. Also the health care, it cost 600k for my daughter to be born. I paid 0$ :awe:

What's her job?

I pay around 400/my for similar coverage.... except;

40 dollar doctor copay
5 dollar generics

20 dental copay 2000 annual limit

So yes she does have amazing benefist!!!

WTF INDUSTRY IS THIS!?

caps

Healthcare, shes working as a physician for one of the largest hospitals in CA. Best part is I get to take more time off now 🙂

But dang, I still cant get over the free healthcare for life for parents/stepparents/kids (up to age 26). That's potentially a crap ton of money.

that is a nice package.

i have free healthcare here as well for me and my family, however we have a deductible of $3000. but my company puts in $110/mo into my HSA. so i just put in $75/check pretax to cover the $3000/yr. although the past 3 months i put $500/check because we just had a child, and that $3k was met very quickly. dental is built into the health, as is vision.

got her beat on education ($5k) and vacation (27 days), as well as retirement (automatically put 6% of salary into 401k, immediately vested), but those other benefits are looking real nice right now especially the 35 days of free childcare lol.

I know someone on SSI. He doesn't work, gets free health care, a free apartment, and food stamps. The only issue he has is he has high blood pressure at 36 years old. Oh, he also gets allocated money for a new smartphone. He told me he's going to be on this program for life.

🙁

i need to marry a doctor :hmm:

being in a family with 2 doctors that package is not typical at all

my dads is pretty standard

my bro in law who is in CA has to get his own insurance its not provided by the hospital he works at (some legality thing where docs are not actual employees of the hospital but are contractors) and it is not that good at all and costs him a shit ton for his wife and 3 kids (orthopedic surgeon)

My wife is an RN on a cardiac care ward for one of the larger regional hospitals in NJ. Her benefits package is one of the worst I've ever seen.

that is a nice package.

but the pension wins by a landslide

i didn't see a pension in there. if "DBP" means pension, i had no clue. and i didn't see any terms of what they are paid out with the pension if that is the case.

also, pensions aren't guaranteed anymore. coworker who works for boeing was telling me yesterday that he is getting screwed on what was supposed to be his pension due to some changes in policy.
