Now I understand why having a birthday between Christmas & New Years sucks...

My son will be 1 year on December 30th. His first birthday. We were out of state the 2nd week of this month. Came back the weekend before Christmas and had Christmas dinners we had to attend. Get into Christmas Eve/Christmas day. Now on the 27th when our brains get out of holiday mode we come to the realization "CRAP forgot the kid's birthday!" then try to figure out a plan and can't do anything this weekend because everyone will be out on long vacations and whatnot because of the new years stuff.

So yeah. We're terrible parents and I feel sorry for you suckers who managed to get a birthday slapped in that week between Christmas and New Years.

My Dad's two brothers were both born Christmas day, too. Crazy, huh?

Yeah, it's more about the younger kids that I think is the crappy part. My wife and I both work health care and really don't get much time off around the holidays. It's kind of a chaotic environment for us trying to juggle work, holiday stuff, day care not being open, and normal everyday stuff. Remembering that there's a kid's birthday in there just didn't pop up on the radar until it was almost on top of us. Birthdays just kinda get lost in the shuffle of the holiday frenzy of schedules and activities.
