Now I understand why having a birthday between Christmas & New Years sucks...

My son will be 1 year on December 30th. His first birthday. We were out of state the 2nd week of this month. Came back the weekend before Christmas and had Christmas dinners we had to attend. Get into Christmas Eve/Christmas day. Now on the 27th when our brains get out of holiday mode we come to the realization "CRAP forgot the kid's birthday!" then try to figure out a plan and can't do anything this weekend because everyone will be out on long vacations and whatnot because of the new years stuff.

So yeah. We're terrible parents and I feel sorry for you suckers who managed to get a birthday slapped in that week between Christmas and New Years.

He's 1...he won't remember.

Obvious answer: Don't procreate in March

I didn't. It was more like May...he was more than 6 weeks early. And I'm not really concerned that it's a mental trauma to a 1 year old. Just that I understand now how it's easy to get a birthday lost in the shuffle during this time frame rather than one in say...June or something.
