Now I can say from first hand experience that I do not see what the hype is with WoW

I know several addicts. they have always tried getting me to play but it simply did not interest me from what I have read/seen on line. This girl keep on and on and gave me her extra account username/password to try it out, so I said why not. After hours and hours of downloading and installing updates I finally tried it. MEH

Wow what a snoozefest this game is. I can tell from the small amount of time I played this game is super-repetitive. Do lame hack-n-slash(in my case as a warrior), to gain experience, rinse, repeat..ugh. No thanks, I promptly uninstalled this game. I can't believe people actually pay to play this game.

I like all kinds of games. I guess I was expecting too much since it costs money every month and all the millions addicted to it. I just didn't see what was so addicting, it seemed more aggravating than anything. Steadily doing the same thing over and over just to gain experience.

Warriors are, by far, the most boring class. The start of the game is pretty slow. Once you get to level 20-30 and more PvP battlegrounds open up to you, the game becomes MUCH more fun.

It doesn't take long to get to those levels either. If you have a little support and someone to start you off with some gold, you can get there in a few days.

I guess it also depends on what you're looking for. Hate RPGs and Swords and Sorcery? It's probably not for you...

However, if you like solo questing, it's fun. Or small groups, big groups, financial trading in the Auction House, PvP Battlegrounds.... You name it... There's a lot to enjoy!

Edit: Now that I think about it. Paladins might be more boring. Toss up to me. ;)

Last thing we need is another person that thinks "Anal [Bloodthirst]" is funny and that we need to see it in Trade chat for the one billionth time.

The game doesn't get good till the end with raids and PVP LOL

So yeah, you'll be doing quests and farming for gold over and over till you get the epic loots from quests/dungeons/raids etc. Then the fun begins!!! ;) I quit WoW after about a year because it took too much time. I have a level 70, but I quit when WOTLK came out.

not only are warriors hack n slash boredom, the race you choose can also be boring. the quest lines are what makes it entertaining/ interesting to me. granted, ive played them all at this point so i know the background of them all, but still. once you get into the parts that arent all repetitive, there are plenty of things you can find to amuse yourself in that game. and im nowhere NEAR an addict, when i was playing regularly it was still barely a couple hours a night after the kidlings were crashed.

Yeah I thought WoW was very boring, didn't last through the trial period. I'm a big instant gratification kind of guy though, so I play CS:S pretty much exclusively.

I believe that that's exact opposite of what makes WoW appealing. I think many people at first like WoW because it's very reward-oriented: do something simple, get something useful, do more simple things and get more useful things. It's conditioning at its finest, but the gratification is definitely not instant.

By the time things start feeling like an endless treadmill, a player has progressed enough to start having to collaborate with other players in order to achieve a goal, which of course makes the entire playing experience more interesting.

You're definitely right that the fulfill-request-receive-reward model doesn't work on everyone. Apparently it works on a large portion of the population, though.

that's true....mmorpgs are NOTORIOUS for being grindfests. EverQuest was arguably the WORST.

What makes WoW stand out is mostly that it's user-friendly (intuitive interface) and its constant patches and QA testing....I mean, granted people *expect* that if they're paying 13-15 a month there'll be tech support and updates, but keep in mind that for previous games such as Diablo II, Warcraft III etc. Battle.net was a FREE service and blizzard was still doing occasional patches after they released the games. Blizzard has a justly deserved reputation for releasing excellent games and constantly attempting to polish it.

Wrong forum. Why do you think you are special?

Also, the same came be said for every game.

Oh racing games? What a snooze fest. You just drive over and over to unlock new cars.

FPS? BOR-ING. You just shoot random guys over and over. No variation at all.

RPGs? Shit is so tedious. You just fight and level up over and over.

RTS? Who wants to just play war over and over again?

What I hated about WoW the quest where run to town A find some idiot to talk to, run to town B find another idiot to talk to, run back to town A and talk to the idiot again.

Why would anyone want to play a game that takes "a few days" to get fun? When I want to play a game, I want to have fun now, not next Wednesday.

Anal [Bloodthirst] isn't funny. It's all about Anal [Pain Suppression].

It's fine that you didn't enjoy it, but two things:

1.) It sounds like you only installed the game after being nagged to do it.

2.) WoW is a completely different game from leveling. WoW doesn't even start to be what it is in my eyes until you hit the top level. There are so many facets of the game - battlegrounds, dungeons, raids, farming for cash and playing noobtards in the Auction Houses, etc.

When you meet people who play a lot of WoW, just remember that it's absolutely nothing like what you experienced for the hour or two that you got your little guy to level 9. The teamwork and communication and strategies for killing raid bosses are just... the best video gaming experience to date for my money.

Anyhow, WRONG FORUM, YOU NITWIT! :D

I like and play all kinds of games too. WoW is the most addicting game I've ever played by far. I only played for two or three months but during that time I was absolutely immersed in it.

What level did you get to?

Sub level 10 is really just a familiarization. beyond that when you start getting talent points and decent gear upgrades (greens) you really get to develop your character and play how you want. I would suggest playing until at least level 15 before ditching the game. You truly are missing out on a ton of fun. I do not raid, but I love PVP. Some people like raiding, others love playing the economy. I for one had never played a MMO prior to this and had no interest to. Once I started, it began to grow on me. On that note, save your money, it's time consuming and I really do not want to die to another ret pally :p

well, at least it's not like Lineage 2, which requires an investment of 5-6 accounts, $1000+ in gear, and a solid 3-4 months 24/7 botting before it becomes fun.

If you thought that was boring, just wait till you play EVE.
It holds the record of being the only game I ever played that I actually fell asleep while playing !
