Now I can say from first hand experience that I do not see what the hype is with WoW

Quests like that got even worse later on... sometimes they had you going halfway across the WoW game world and back in order to talk to someone.

That said, the "Kill 10 of X monster, kill 10 of slightly bigger monster, and finally kill the boss monster to get a magic trinket" quests were even more boring at times.

For me I'm very goal orientated. Its like my mind is set on 80, so I'll do everything that is possible to get there as fast as I can. After I reach my goal, I get bored until I think of something else to accomplish. I played WoW late, probably in 2006. I leveled to 60 quick, did some raids here and there but back then raids were all day events. BC came out and I was more hooked than ever. It was like a fresh start for everyone. After I hit 70, my goal was Arena. I got the Gladiator title, then I was like ok whats next. There wasnt much else to do so I just canceled my account and didnt play for about a year until WotLK came out. WotLK gave me everything I wanted and new goals. Raids were faster, dungeons were less tedious etc. Plus the new achievement system is highly addicting.

It's an entertaining enough game, and the idea of implementing "daily quests" was pure genius in terms of increasing addictiveness/longevity, especially with relation to reputation for various factions.

My subscription has lapsed for about two weeks, but as is the case with most WoW players I've known, I'll likely renew again soon simply because it's what nearly ALL of my friends play. I personally think that both Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings Online are better games, but no one I know plays them, so I'm stuck with Warcraft.

Its smarter not to run and do the quests that send you all over the world. I typically wait till I have other reasons to go to another zone before I'll run 1/2 way across the world. Btw, you don't have to do those quests. WOW has so many quests available its insane - you can easily skip everything that makes you run around the world.

I used to love "vanilla" WoW. Being level 60 in blues and maybe a purple or 2 meant something, and if you had your epic mount...OMG. The 2 expansions and various content updates have added quite a bit, but it still seems a little meh these days.

You hate WoW but you are with a girl who plays it??? Seems you're still supporting it by being with her.

Wow what a snoozefest this game is. I can tell from the small amount of time I played this game is super-repetitive. Do lame hack-n-slash(in my case as a warrior), to gain experience, rinse, repeat..ugh. No thanks, I promptly uninstalled this game. I can't believe people actually pay to play this game.

the game is a never-ending grindfest. you farm gold, rep, pvp just to get better items so you could farm better? the only addictive part of the game is if you find a group of people who you can enjoy playing with :p

I got into WoW on release day and played for 2 years, it was quite addictive but I wasn't too pleased to see all the time and effort I put into the game wiped from the slate with an expansion so I quit. I knew it was only a matter of time before a 2nd expansion would do it again if I stayed and I was right.

Some people like raiding, others love playing the economy. I for one had never played a MMO prior to this and had no interest to. Once I started, it began to grow on me. On that note, save your money, it's time consuming and I really do not want to die to another ret pally :p

Don't listen to this guy. It's best not to play WoW for the sake of humanity, and your wallet.

I tried it, got alittle addicted for about 4 weeks and then realized I wasn't into it. Oonly reason I kinda got into it is because I played alot of Pokemon when I was a kid and it reminded alittle of it.

No thanks though, I'll stick to Battlefield 2142. That game get's my adrenaline pumping like none other. Jumping off their Titan as it is exploding and parachuting down to safety....frickin awesome!

Besies thats the only game I completely rule in. Always in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

Warriors are, by far, the most boring class. The start of the game is pretty slow. Once you get to level 20-30 and more PvP battlegrounds open up to you, the game becomes MUCH more fun.

It doesn't take long to get to those levels either. If you have a little support and someone to start you off with some gold, you can get there in a few days.

Why would anyone want to play a game that takes "a few days" to get fun? When I want to play a game, I want to have fun now, not next Wednesday.

because it's more fun in the long run and cheaper than spending $50 on a new console game every 2-3 weeks?

though really, I was having fun from the moment I installed WoW... leveling from 1-60 the first time was pretty enjoyable, with everything being new and exciting.

but if you don't like MMO's, of course you're not going to like WoW. the core enjoyment of MMO's tends to come from the massive multiplayer part. if it wasn't for raiding wth 24-39 of my guildmates that I enjoy playing with, the game would have gotten old a long time ago.

QFT. When WoW came out it was so friggin' awesome seeing new shit all the time. I played WoW originally because I wanted to know the story after WC3:FT. I quit about a year ago today but I still look at new info about WoW from time to time to see the story.

raiding is fun but quickly turns into a loot fest but the true joy of the game (for me) is outplaying another person. it's not fps where there's such a huge margin of luck involve, who see's who first, mow them down, head shot...

to outplay another person, completely lock them out of their character is pure enjoyment. for the next 10-15 secs, they sit at their computer trying to figure out wtf is going on. why am i silenced? why am i stunned? why am i feared? how did they break my iceblock/bubble?

this is what sucks about having 2 expansions out already. when the game first came out, the novelty of the game kept people in, getting to 60 was the reward, unlocking new doors and possibilities. essentially, everyone was on the same boat. i cant imagine leveling another character to 80...the task seems daunting, then gearing them up again??? forget it.

if people start playing, they should try a death knight, start at level 55 with sufficient tutorial as well as gear when you get out of the starting zone. you'll also be starting with other people since every account can have 1 dk, that way you're not alone all the time.

I enjoyed WoW for the time I played, I was in a top 100 guild in the world so raiding was a blast for a long time. I also had 14k gold cause I loved to go farming for cash. Sold my account in 2007 for a nice chunk of coin. WoW is till the best MMO I ever played. Its like anything else for me though, it eventually gets old and raiding is very repetitive. So is farming but for me it was fun going on the hunt for the possible drop of an epic.

FPS, if you know what your doing, has no luck involved. I wouldn't come out on top every game if I was just lucky every time. It does take actual skill and a very precise mouse to be the best. Also, you have to constantly be aware of the full map. Where everyone is, what each squads objectives are, where enemys were last spotted, where THEY might be going and what their objectives might be.

For example,i f our titan shield goes down, and a teamate reports that a transport is crossing the bridge over the Suez Canal, I can lay mines up the road ahead of them knowing what route they will take. I'll hid near the mines and watch as their transport get demolished. That's skill not luck.

And as far as the shotting goes, if your very skilled and your mouse has a nice high resolution and is precise, you can pull headshots everytime.
