As this thread has proven time and time again, take just about everything with a grain of salt (ok, that's my disclaimer for more possibly incorrect data 🙂 ). Anyway.... This article is an intersting read. It is UK based, but that doesn't really matter for this point. It looks as though the word on the street is mid-July. Here's a small snippet:

Yea, but that really just confirms the new arrival date of 7/21/04 since it says to start increasing mid-July. Damn ATI! I was hoping for 6/24 - oh wait, that was 3 weeks ago.

Well, I placed my order on 6-14-04 for the card and my origianl expected delivery date is 7-13-04. Just this morning, I received an email from GW. It stated that my card will be delayed and the new estimate date is 8-13-04. Basically, it will be one month later than the orignal date. Then later in the mail, it said that 8-13-04 is an estimate date, not a guaranteed delivery date. So, further delay might be possible and I have my right to cancel the order anytime. So, I hope you guys will get the card faster than me.... 🙁

I think you need to relax a little and not hang onto every word
and build theories and hopes on it. The fact is that they
don't have it in stock yet, and they don't know when they will,
but so is the case for every other retailer. Actually, it's quite
generous of them to offer a discount for a pre-order item.

My plan is to keep my order, until either I get the card, or I find
the card available somewhere else (for a reasonable price).

Yea, that was a little dramatic. But seriously, ATI should know that this is a horrible way to conduct business. Gateway needs to tell everyone the date of 8/13/04 or whatever, and not some people (me) 7/21/04 when they know that it is wrong! That is what I don't like. People have different dates that ordered at the same time.

You know, Gateway may have different size orders scheduled to arrive on different dates; you probably got your order in earlier than he did (he's like 6/14; I ordered 6/3!), so you may be scheduled to receive your card with an earlier shipment to Gatewayl he's so far down the waitlist of preorders that he is scheduled for a later delivery date.

That or it's all just plan hogwash. I am willing to bet the latter.:disgust:

I got in on the 10% off deal on 6/30 and I've been following this thread since I placed my order - my shipping date has not wavered from 7/29. For now. Based on these posts I expect it to either get cancelled, or be pushed back like some here have experienced.

I find myself checking this thread daily for the latest on the news and see "who has heard what"...keep up the good posts guys...

For $398 or whatever the total was, I'll wait. For a while.

Well, even though GW email me regarding the new delayed date, but when I check my order status online, it still says 07-13-04 for delievery date. GW has some messed up system! 🙁

But like many others have said, this deal is still too good to past up. One more month isn't too bad since no other online vendors have the card either.

Yo, for those of y'all that haven't been following a similar thread at rage3d (almost 2000 posts!), check out the link, they are saying if not the middle of this month then at least August...ugh.

That could explain the disparate ship dates of 7/21 and then 8/9 or whatever...

I just noticed that on Compusa site the X800 XT-PE is now showing
estimated arrival date of Aug 1st, where a few days ago it wasn't
available yet at all, with no estimated arrival date.

This estimate might be more trustworthy than others because they also
had a similar estimate a few days ago for the 6800 gt to arrive on july 12th,
and this estimate seems to have been accurate, as the website now shows
6800 gt in stock and available for immediate shipping.

Yeah I wasn't thinking correctly. Supposedly the Gigabyte X800 Pro VIVO is 16 pipelines out the box with no need to flash the bios. Paid $459 and I was going to cancel but according to the site, you can't cancel unless they are backordered on the item. I'll state it again, I wasn't in my right mindframe 😛

Now it's egging me in the back of my head I didn't go 6800GT :|

Hehe, it's okay bro. With the 16 pipelines, it is fast, maybe faster than GT. Just O/C to XTPE levels and you are good to go!

Alright, I just called in to CDW again to see if they have a new date, and my representative handily informed me that they were just updated today...

...and ATi has provided them with an estimated wait period of 30 to 60 days.

I just cancelled my order, and am expecting my refund by check some time next week. 30 to 60 days?!? I'm outta' there!

I'm not outta' here though; I'll be sure to keep in touch with the thread, and I'll let you guys know where/when I make my order in place of this one.

Alright, ZipZoomFly has the eVGA 6800GT in stock; just put my order in. Free 2-day shipping; came out to $399.

Guess no DX9C/PS3.0 worries for me now. The only thing is, where will I find a good replacement cooler? I really prefer Arctic Cooling's product over everything else, since it helps keep the case cooler, but so far they've only supported ATi... :disgust:

Maybe BiG lie from Gateway and poor judgement on my part. I was very pissed off about the 30-60 days bullsheit. So I called Gateway angrily ... the monotoned lady said "Sir, the date of 7/21/04 was a delayed ship date, meaning your order could ship before that. We are no longer showing the X800 XT PE as backordered, and your order has a high enough status that it should be getting ready to ship; possibly tommorow." Holy firecracker batman.

I don't believe CDW would lie to its customers. But it is no longer listed as Backordered, and it has been for the past 4 weeks. Weird.

I really hope this means they got some, and will be starting to send them out soon, please

Did you happen to ask how many they got/getting in stock, I hope mine can be shipped

Don't know, I will have to call Gateway again. They told me it was no longer listed as backordered, but I checked this morning and it still says Out-of-Stock. That could mean that was BS, or it could mean my order isn't backordered, but new orders are. Who knows.
