EddNog, darkswordsman17 - Do either of you guys want Gmail accounts? I gave an invite to my girlfriend, and she has invites that I can give you guys. I have had 2 accounts from the beginning and have given away over 30 invites. Since you guys have stuck around and been good thread talkers (i.e. no noobish comments, provided updates, are cool people) , I'll invite you both.

Note: If you already have Gmail, please tell me =O I'll give the invites to other deserving people =D

Note 2: I want my X800 XT PE - I can run Starcraft at 900 fps

!!!

Btw; thanks, but no on the Gmail; already got my own account. You know it's both sad and funny how there are people selling their Gmail invites!

EDIT: PS my Gmail alias is also EddNog. :) I don't yet use it, however, as I already have too many mailboxes to keep an eye on (admin@ngtechnik.com, edwardng@silentpcreview.com and edwardng@mindspring.com I already check daily.).

I have even more now:

2 Gmail
3 UT Austin (all required)
1 Hotmail
1 SBC Yahoo

Thankfully, all the UT accounts are autoforwarded to my main Gmail account. My hotmail account is now my spam mail account, soon to be jumbo sized 250mb spam account. I used my SBC account to send large files, but Gmail can do that now. I think my SBC Yahoo email is 2 GB now. Heh - I have 2 Gmail, 2 GB effectively (don't say 2000mb isn't 2048mb).

As for Starcraft, I just started playing again. My friends and I play on the "Fastest Map Ever" on the fastest game setting. Last night, I won 3 3v3 games. For our group of 3, we play 1 zerg, 2 toss. I end up Carrier rushing =D I had 12 (with full upgrades) by the time 2 guys decided to attack us. Boy oh boy ... not to mention my never ending arrays of cannons. One thing I wish toss had are seige tanks. Awesome when in ... whatever mode. Especially when paired with marine bunkers and turrents.

Oh yeah, the mailboxes just pile up over the years; those three are only the ones I check on a constant basis. The Earthlink one (@Mindspring.com) I've had since high school; it's definitely my spam box, but it's also the box that I have all my online accounts set to send to, unfortunately. I have a good 10 or so completely neglected accounts, and a couple that I check once every couple days or so, but not daily, and certainly not set to autocheck every 5 minutes like my SPCR and MindSpring boxes.

I used to play Star Craft a while back. My favorite thing was having a fleet of Protoss carriers; it was just so much fun to watch; that, and using Arbiters to beam in a crapload of Dragoons.

According to Gateway's website my estimated ship date is 7/15/04. I am still waiting for a reply from them to see if that date is still good. Now the only question is will this card run cool enough to put into my Shuttle SFF . Safeway I don't suppose I could get one of those GMAIL invites?

I never thought I'd say this, but you guys should relax. Gateway is no different from anybody else when it comes to the retail box X800 XT PE's. Nobody has them. The only ones you can get right now are OEM. I cancelled my orders from both Gateway and CompUSA and ordered from buyxg.com thinking I would get it sooner. I ordered on June 17th, and the item appeared to be in stock. Within hours after my order it said BACK ORDER ETA 06/30. Since then it has changed to ETA 07/07 to ETA 07/09, but I received an email telling me the estimated shipping date is 07/15.

My point: I don't think anybody has the retail box versions......even CompUSA removed the item from their website. Nobody knows when they're actually going to come in. This is all really ATI's fault and not the retailers. I wish now that I had kept my order with Gateway, because I'm not going to get it any sooner than anybody else.

Yeah, it is most definitely ATi's problem that is causing the delay.

After emailing them, they changed my arrival date to the 14th. They must have their system setup automatedly so that it goes to charge based on the date they have in the system and not what is actually going on. It irritates me that they have it like that, because it puts a hold on my account for the billing price, which is the same as if they were actually billing me.

I think I'm gonna call and gripe at them for it happening a 2nd time. At the least they should give me a small discount or upgrade my shipping or something.

Rebel7254, I was of the same belief as you (nobody actually has a retail built by ATI X800XT PE card). Since then, at least one user from these forums (Ferris I believe?) has received one. Also, several people have claimed to buy them from a Compusa in Texas. Even today, I saw a post in these forums linking to eBay, showing many retail ATI X800XT PE's that were ready to ship the same day.

As someone said earlier in one of these threads, they do in fact appear to be "out", but in very limited quantities. The only reason I cared to find out was because I was getting curious if the delay might be related to a manufacturing bug/defect. I guess the low quanities available doesn't prove or disprove the theory anyway. :)

I imagine that the date will be pushed back again tomorrow. While I'm excited to get the card, I'm still fine with waiting as long as nobody else is getting their's either. ;) Also, after reading an article linked from these forums showing that a X800 XT PE suffers somewhat when running on a P4 2.8 or <, it made me a little less enthusiastic. I wish more review sites would do reviews of video cards on several CPU speeds in their articles. Seems like the trend is to always get the biggest, baddest CPU to test it on. That's fine, as long as they also show what it will do on "realistic" machines, too. Ok...I'm getting off topic. :)

Got a call from Gateway today, charging my credit card. The woman on the other end (who actually sounded quite sincere) said they were due in soon, and that she had discussed this with other co-workers and her boss yesterday afternoon. I asked her to spill the beans, but all she could say is that they would be here soon. That and 30 cents will get me a cup to piss in...but I digress.

I ordered in the AM on June 3rd, my ship date is set at the 19th. Let's see what happens!

Well the point is nobody can get one unless you live in Houston, TX or you are willing to shell out an assload of money for one on eBay.

I heard July 9th (tommorow) they get them in. Depending on shipping method, they are due July 12, 15, 19. Mine is due the 12th, one day (overnight) shipping + weekend...

I've seriously considered just cancelling my order period and waiting a couple more months to upgrade when most of the brands (Sapphire, Visiontek, HIS, etc.) have been reviewed, and more depth comparisons with the Nvidia 6800 Ultra. I tell ya, with the newest drivers the 6800's are looking better and better. I'd love to have digital vibrance back on the table again......

But I guess I'll stick with my current order.....only because the three pins that connect my 9700 Pro to the PSU are bent, it doesn't overclock AT ALL, and it locks up from time to time. If my 9700 Pro was performing flawlessly I wouldn't even upgrade.......but I'm tired of putting up with it.

Ok, I know this is a little off topic.....sorry. You know how it is sometimes....just gotta rant.

I say hang in there to everybody who ordered from Gateway back in June. However I don't think it would be wise to order from them right now, unless you don't mind waiting indefinitely to get your video card.

I ordered the x800xt by phone so I don't have a record of when I ordered but csr has me as receiving the card next week 7/16. If I catch that 9800 pro for $223 deal at newegg I think I'm gonna go for it, save $200 and wait for a decent deal on a 6800gt.

HF, what type of shipping did you get? If it's ground basic, then 7/16 may be right. I heard they are getting the shipment today, Next Day gets to me 7/12, since the weekend cuts off my overnightness - lame. Time will tell - I am hoping something will change by 4:00pm today - and it better not be the shipping date. Heh.

Safeway,
AFAIK, it's el cheapo shipping as they didn't offer anything else to me and I never go for anything other than the cheapest way.

Actually, I opted for the free shipping too. No reason to spend money to get it a little faster right? The thing is, I B&Med (Bitched and Moaned) enough that they upgraded me to Overnight (Next Day) for free. Heh =D

Quote from Gateway Email:

"I regret to inform you that we are still
experiencing an unavoidable delay with your order. We are experiencing
a shortage of this product from one of our vendor. The new estimated
arrival date for your order is July 21, 2004. Please accept my sincere
apologies for the inconvenience this may cause you. We try to keep
delivery times as close as possible to our estimates however, setbacks
do occur. We are sorry such a setback has affected you. Please note
that although you have encountered problems, this is not a common
occurrence within Gateway."

I apologize for the double post, but this is crappy new intel and it acts as a bump too. So other people make sure to notice it. This is ridiculous. I am more disappointed now than I was at any of the other delays. I thought 7/12/04 was real. This is also the biggest delay I have had, I had 3-4 smaller ones, 1 medium one, and this huge 9 day delay. What a hunk of bull sh!t... :frown::|:frown::|:frown::|

I ordered on 6/3 and they pushed my date back to 7/29. I canceled that, reordered with the 10% off and I'm estimated for 7/30.

I got the $398 deal too. My date is supposed to be 7/29. I'll probably get the 6800gt.

Very *Sigh...* indeed EddNog. I am way, totally, utterly bummed out. I had my hopes up, which I know was stupid of me; to think Gateway actually had cards in. I am very tempted to cancel my order and get a -gasp- 6800GT. But I won't =P Why do they continue to give me dates like 7/21 and other people dates such as 7/29! It can't all be blamed on the shipping method, can it? I know for a fact that as 7/21 rolls around, I will yet again get my hopes up, and yet again, be let down miserably. Gateway shall perish in the fiery pits of hell!

And Edd, on my new Bnet Starcraft account, I am 13-0. And unlike the noobs that continually join "5 vs 1 computer" games and rush em, I have only played against real people. I did, however, practice in custom games to get my speed back up to par and remember the hot keys. It's nice to know that I can still kick ass at SC - only as Protoss and Zerg though...
