I liked Logan a lot; I even thought the kid was ok in it.

Bright, 8.0/10 on Netflix. I did enjoy it, it looked great in 4K. The message was obvious, it was about racial tension. Seems to me the Elfs where the white people, the Orcs were the black people. Upper class and lower class. And about the first Orc becoming a cop, do the dismay to both races, and humans. He was a traitor to other Orcs and the humans didn't want him either. Both tried to take him out. It had a good message overall I thought, and I did enjoy it. Something we need more of today. There is already a second signed on which is good.

I like Will Smith and thought he did well. I was happy to see Joel Edgerton as the Orc cop, from one of the brother in Warrior. I was especially happy to see Noomi Rapace in it. I am a fan of hers after watching her in The Girl with with Dragon Tattoo (Millennium), Swedish version. Nothing really stood out about her performance in this, but am still a fan.

Netflix is on the ball with movies and TV shows now days. I watch it as much or more than regular TV. And unlike TV, it has 4K on newer titles usually.

All The Money in the World - 6/10

It was pretty good, but the pacing was very slow and the plot was very simple. That isn't always a bad thing, but I felt like I was watching a really long movie where not a whole lot happens.

There were only a couple scenes that felt weird like they digitally took out Spacey.

Justice league. It was twice the movie that Star Wars was. The latest Star Wars was uninspired, and I fell asleep two different times during the movie. Justice League, while not perfect, was full of action and was overall a much better movie.

I thought the same thing. I liked Star wars more the first time I watched because I was so confused as to what was going on to realize that it was just massive plot holes and stupidity.

Second watching of justice league made me realize it was a much better film than star wars. The problem with Justice League was that they got batman and his humor wrong.

Not as good as Force awakens but def better than last jedi.

Fcukin Freaks and Geeks is WAY better than 90210 but somehow they got 9 friggen seasons and Freaks and Geeks was killed after just 18 episodes.
What the crap?

So anyways, I recommend Freaks and Geeks while its still on Netflix. Rumor has it they will be removing a bunch of stuff on December 31st.

Steven Kings "1922" on netflix was pretty weird. Everyone is saying YOU HAVE TO SEE IT.
Lately I've been hooked on old Edward G Robison movies where he plays the non gangster parts.
I never realized he made so many films where he was not a gangster and some comedy.
THE WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING, DARK HAZARD, THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, A SLIGHT CASE OF MURDER were fun to watch.
Robinson was a pretty good actor outside of his gangster roles.

Hired Guns 7/10
Documentary about musicians hired for tours and/or studio work. Most interesting thing I learned from watching it is Billy Joel is a douchebag. Its a good documentary if you like ones based around the music industry. Netflix streaming.

Finished watching Boardwalk Empire. Started watching it 5 years ago. Got through the first two seasons back then and stopped. Watched it all from start to finish this month since all season are available on Amazon Prime.

9/10 - More people should put it on their list of shows to binge-watch.

I can tell you that.

In 1997 there were about a dozen tweens sitting behind me at the theater. They cried and cheered and screamed like tiny psychos the entire 3 hours. I really coudlnt get emotionally connected to anybody or anything.

Thats why I watched it again recently on Netflix, at home. No distractions. I enjoyed it much better. BUT, I did notice the butt-ugly CGI faces during that one sequence with the rushing water. Kinda off-putting.

Peaky Blinders Season 4 - 7/10

First 2 seasons are by far the best. Season 3 was alright. Adrian Brody did a good job in his role, but also felt to typical cliche Italian mobster as well. Ill be curious if they do another season. Show seems to be running out of steam to me.

Black Mirror, episode 2: Fifteen Million Merits - 8/10: Late to this anthology series, but this particular episode really made you think about how we live. We are a society built on consumption and we work daily just to have the means to purchase and consume more. What happens when one gets tired of the routine and tries to break the cycle? Can he or anyone else really escape it with their integrity intact? Or all in all, is he just another brick in the wall?

There are so many deep analogies throughout that it really deserves a watch and analysis.

Roger Ebert explained the two basic types of comedy and why they work or sometimes dont work.

https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-jerk-1979

It got me thinking about Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Chris Farley, Seth Rogan, and all the other people I dont think are funny.

A) The Jerk is a timeless (much overlooked and forgotten about) classic
B) Sandler, Stiller... not funny. Rogan funny. Farley hysterical.

I'm not a fan of Stiller or Sandler in general, but I do like a few of their films.

I enjoy "world-building" comedy where an unusual situation is created and much of the humor is emergent from the characters taking the world seriously and playing it straight: Zoolander, Little Nicky, Top Secret!, Airplane!, Galaxy Quest, Buckaroo Banzai. Ebert might say this is "funny hat" or gag comedy, but the character motivations and actions usually make perfect sense if you accept the world that's been created.

We started it a month or so ago and found it quite good, but life got busy and we haven't gone back to it yet. I also became obsessed with Archer so have not been interested in watching anything else. Definitely planning on watching all of Boardwalk Empire in the new year though.

Many, many times in my life I've used the expression "Fuck me gently with a chainsaw" but couldnt remember where I learned it.
Apparently it was used in Heathers. But I never watched Heathers until today. Cant remember where I heard it first.

Also, Heathers is excellent, mostly cuz of the nasty one-liners.
