I think my favorite twist ending of all time is Saw. I don't think I've been so "HOLY SHIT!!" Faced at the end of a movie like I was the first time I saw it. I then proceeded to tell everyone I know to watch it.

Yeah that caught me off guard too. That first film is actually pretty decent. I hated the second one, and liked a couple of the ones after that, but most of them sort of blend together after the first one.

I always liked the ending of Dark City. Quality sci-fi. Very unique film. Highly recommend for any sci-fi fan and anyone that likes films in general.

And for surprise endings? Try Old Boy. ;)

Recent stuff I saw:

Flight: 5/10 - Sucked IMO. Denzel is good. Goodman is fucking awesome as usual, but the film is not really about flying or the investigation at all. It's pretty fucking lame.

God Bless America: 4/10 - Really wanted to like this, but it's just REALLY awkward. Surprise considering it's about a child molesterish guy traveling the country w/ young pretty teenager killing random assholes. This could of actually been an awesome film if the production team had a deft hand..... the formula is really spot on considering the general state of pop culture and ignorance of the masses.

Silent Hill: Revelations: 4/10 - It had Sean Bean in it so it didn't get a 0.

Yep, Old Boy is an excellent one. That director has Stoker coming out his week. His English language debut!

The Last King of Scotland: 10/10

Has nothing to do with Scotland. It's supposed to be based on a true story. It's not. What it is however is a great movie about the craziness that was Idi Amin, the brutal dictator who killed about 300,000 Ugandans.

What. What did you expect?

The investigation was spot-on about Denzel's alcohol consumption. The story was about his struggle with alcoholism.

What 'investigation' and 'flying' were you expecting?

I did watch a few movies on the several hours long flight across the Pacific Ocean.

Zero Dark Thirty - 8/10. The movie was decent but I gave it extra point due to the (mostly) honest telling of long and dirty hard work of the men/women of our military.

Argo - 7/10. It was not bad but I did not think it was not that (Oscar worthy). The scences of the bad guys tried to catch them and cars chasing the airplane was a bit over the top and not really belieable.

Good Day To Die ie. Die In Russia - 5/10. Shooting, blowing stuffs up, and more shooting and blowing stuffs, rinse and repeat. LOL @ all the shooting and blowing stuffs up and cops were no where to be found. Cute Russia chick and nice little twist at the end = saving grace.

Lincoln - 8/10. DL was super as the President. Oscar win was well earned.

Dark City 8/10, subjectively I'd give it a 9/10 just for having Jennifer Connelly in it.

I may be strange, but I liked all the alien movies. Clearly 1 and 2 were the best though.

FWIW: AvP 1 was bad but AvP 2 was actually watchable. Not great but worth seeing.

I think Resurrection kinda sucked, but I've read that there was some bad blood between the creative types and corporate goons; so not sure if it properly should have sucked, or if it got butchered in post-production.

Smiley - 2/10 Just bad bad bad. Characters were completely unbelievable and unlikeable. I have no issues with crazy dumb horror movie stories and plots, but the characters just ruined it with their completely stupid actions and script.

The Collector - 6/10 - decent Saw-ish type slasher movie.

The Collection - 8/10 - Sequel to the above and much better overall I thought. It picks up where the first one leaves off. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Teddy Bear. 8/10 It's a Danish film on Netflix with English subs. Pretty amazing that it's from a first time director. Totally awkward film, and if you like that type of flick this one is great.

It's based on a short film the director made 6 or 7 years ago which is up on youtube. If you have any interest you should definitely watch the movie first as the 15 - 20 minute short would spoil the impact of the movie.

Red Dawn (Remake)-5.5/10
From reviews, I thought it was going to be a total shit-show, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. Acting is alright, plot is pretty much exactly the same as the original, but with less likelihood/cultural relevance (Although with NK's recent nuclear threats, maybe not).
Bottom line is that it was a decently entertaining popcorn flick, with lots of guns and explosions. Plus I'm a sucker for any underdog/invasion/resistance movies. It lacked the spirit of the original, though I did get a kick out of one homage, but it was enjoyable as a straight-up action film.

Due Date - 7/10 I watched this with the wife tonight and we both thought it was a great comedy, full of laughs. I really enjoy Zach Galifianakis, and his humor was a great compliment to RDJ. They worked perfectly together as a comedy duo, and in conflict (which there was a lot of). This movie definitely delivered the laughs, even though it did seem a bit long and sometimes boring. Overall a really decent comedy.
