Due Date - 7/10 I watched this with the wife tonight and we both thought it was a great comedy, full of laughs. I really enjoy Zach Galifianakis, and his humor was a great compliment to RDJ. They worked perfectly together as a comedy duo, and in conflict (which there was a lot of). This movie definitely delivered the laughs, even though it did seem a bit long and sometimes boring. Overall a really decent comedy.

oh yeah I remember that movie. It was a good flick but it was basically planes trains and automobiles warmed over a little.

Teddy Bear. 8/10 It's a Danish film on Netflix with English subs. Pretty amazing that it's from a first time director. Totally awkward film, and if you like that type of flick this one is great.

It's based on a short film the director made 6 or 7 years ago which is up on youtube. If you have any interest you should definitely watch the movie first as the 15 - 20 minute short would spoil the impact of the movie.

Yeah I saw this at a festival last year. It was quite good. The lead guy is actually a bodybuilder and had never acted before, but I thought he was did well in it. A pretty quiet film, but it's nice and has heart.

Dark Habits - 5/10

Not bad, but Pedro Almodovar's skills have certainly improved, over the years.

Red Dawn (Remake)-5.5/10
From reviews, I thought it was going to be a total shit-show, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. Acting is alright, plot is pretty much exactly the same as the original, but with less likelihood/cultural relevance (Although with NK's recent nuclear threats, maybe not).
Bottom line is that it was a decently entertaining popcorn flick, with lots of guns and explosions. Plus I'm a sucker for any underdog/invasion/resistance movies. It lacked the spirit of the original, though I did get a kick out of one homage, but it was enjoyable as a straight-up action film.

Roger Ebert gave it a one star rating but didnt actually say what he liked & disliked about it. He only wrote down a synopsis.

My thoughts on movies usually align with his, because he seems to rate movies based on their intended scope. Red Dawn never set out to win an Oscar; I don't get why people expect Shoot 'Em Up movies to feature master storytelling. Sure, those things don't have to be mutually exclusive, but sometimes it's just fun to see the Resistance make the Evil Empire go boom.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home: 6.5/10 Same co-director as Safety Not Guaranteed. The style, dialogue, and quirkiness are all similar. But unlike SNG, it felt way too ordinary of a story. I felt like I just watched a soap opera with a slightly better ending.

The Life of Pi: 8.5/10 What a masterpiece. The visual eyecandy wonder makes the movie already, never mind the soulful story. I can't believe Best Picture went to Argo over this movie.

I'm so psyched to see Life of Pi, and so happy it turned out to be good according to most. Looking at the trailer it seemed hit or miss. But that book was one of my favorites, like an old time fable.

Agree Jeff Who Lives at Home was more of a TV show stretched out to be a movie. Still a good watch though if you're looking for something light

Last film I saw was Flight, 7/10. It's a hard film to judge because I think the screenplay actually was kind of bad, though the basic plot was really good. But my favorite Denzel Washington performance and a few scenes are really well put together. Maybe it's just me but I haven't seen Denzel around in a while, and this wasn't Denzel Washington as Denzel Washington. He went to new place

Yeah but a one star rating implies he didnt even enjoy that much.
Wish he had explained it.

The Game is my second favourite Fincher film after Zodiac. It's awesome.

I tried it couple nights ago couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. I bought Seven, have watched it once, and TBH I found it chilling.

Watched Think Like a Man last week, OMG, I think it's fantastic. 9/10

Watched You've Got Mail last week. Wish I hadn't. 5.5/10

I loved When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle but bringing Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan back for You've Got Mail was just a big mistake. Preposterous premise to begin with, things like that rarely work for me. Sometimes, but this was just too weird. o_O

Sex Drive. 7/10. I gave it an extra point because of Amanda Crew and her laugh in the movie, seems a bit on the geeky side as far as the laugh goes.

Oh and Seth Green as a sarcasm loving Amish person was a pretty funny cameo.

That movie ended up being way better than I expected.

Anyways, I watched Deadfall last night on Netflix. 4/10

So many holes and dumb shit. Didn't make any sense, broke from realism, and didn't make any points. Dumb movie

What. What did you expect?

The investigation was spot-on about Denzel's alcohol consumption. The story was about his struggle with alcoholism.

What 'investigation' and 'flying' were you expecting?

I thought flight was feces. The 30 second trailer was the entire movie. Literally nothing else happened.

Game of Thrones, Episodes 1-3 - 7.5/10

Just entertaining enough. Nothing really hooks me. A lot of the actors are really good. If the show didn't have an "outstanding" reputation, I probably wouldn't bother to watch the rest or try to keep up. I'm going to watch a couple more episodes today and see if it hooks me.

I will say that it's not repulsive to me, like most fantasy.

Fantasy, done right?

I'm the same way with Game of Thrones. I don't think it's GREAT, but I like the actors in it, and my wife absolutely loves it (she's actually read all the books). I think I might like the new season though as it seems there will be a bit more fantasy in it than in the previous seasons.

I watched Sinister last night. It was alright. I think the comments in this thread had me believing it would be ultra scary/good, so I was probably a little on-edge, and inclined to be scared moreso than if I hadn't read any comments about it. I wasn't that impressed with the acting, but it wasn't particularly poor. It did have some good frights in it, especially nearer the beginning. I didn't think the final 15 or so minutes (which all horror movies inevitably focus on) at the end were especially riveting, or satisfying as a conclusion to what had lead up to that point, but it wasn't awful or anything.

Anyway: Sinister - 6.5(maybe 7)/10

Still worth watching, just nothing groundbreaking, imo.

I plan on watching game of thrones in entirety once its all out.

You might be waiting a long time... the author gave the showrunners an outline of the unwritten books in case he falls behind. At the rate in which he finishes the novels it's not unreasonable to think that the series will catch up to the books before the book series is complete.

That's fine :) I lose interest when I have to wait a year.

Silver Linings Playbook 8/10

Saw it last night at the theater - Very good movie but also very predictable. Acting was great and the character development was good. Chris Tucker provided some great humor.

Did a good job of portraying the manic behavior of folks who suffer from mental disorders. All in all a good movie with a happy & tidy ending. Its the "feel good" movie of the year and deserved an Oscar nomination but did not deserve to win.

Its one of those shows where at a minimum I need to wait for a complete blu ray season to be released. Watching an episode and waiting a week would drive me crazy.

I do wish they'd get to those damn White Walkers already!
