Hacksaw Ridge- 9/10, real powerful movie, the guy's story is so incredible it's hard to believe it's based on a true story. Garfield is surprisingly fantastic in the role, along with Hugo Weaving (I was surprised to see him) and I think this is the only movie where I've ever seen Vince Vaughan and didn't hate his acting.
Passengers- 8/10, I love Sci-fi movies which skews the score, but I didn't see the issues critics had- most critics suck anyways. My wife would give it a 10 because she appreciated Chris Pratt's bare butt.
Collateral Beauty- 8/10, I loved how the story develops and the acting is top notch. The ending was a tad confusing but I won't get into it as that would have spoilers.

i want to review my review of Full Frontal w/ Samantha Bee.

this is actually a reasonably funny (if slightly cringy at times) news-based comedy show, a la Late Show or Last Week Tonight.
i had watched only the first episode, and it looked like one of those shows where someone from a working background reads on live TV "memes" they found online but are totally clueless about the implications. Actually .. well, it's like that but not horrible.

Moana - 10/10

I love how empowering it is. The songs are also fantastic. I cried about 70% of the movie too so I think that counts for something.

Keeping Up With the Joneses - 6/10

It's a comedy/action film, and it wasn't bad. I love the cast and the movie was funny enough. I just found it lacking in every aspect - action and comedy.

Fargo season 2? Maybe it will be another show that takes a while to hook me but the first two episodes have been a bore

Hardcore Henry (I know its old). I liked it, probably a 6 out of 10. What I didn't like was the first person view, at times I had to look away to stop the feeling of motion sickness.

Blacklist: Redemption 7/10 -> Spin off of Blacklist

'multi-million $ military contracting company has their own black ops team, complete with Super hacker.'

Probably a filler show to give the woman playing Elizabeth Keen time off/rest from having a baby in real life?

I don't see this show being renewed unless there's a GOOD plot twist coming.

Hmm, I haven't watched season 2 yet. I really enjoyed the first season though. Did you watch season 1?

I can't go full on 10/10 but it was definitely a high 8 or 9. I went into it thinking it wasn't going to be all that good, but very impressed with the whole thing. It actually had that feel of old historic Disney movies like Little Mermaid. I think I liked it more than my son did really.

I did, but I can't remember much about it. I think I liked it, didn't love it. I'm struggling with this new one, though, it might be something I just watch peripherally

Oh man, Full Frontal... I especially like the time when she pointed her toes inward, bent forward at the waist, and said something stupid.

Cloud Atlas 4/10
One of those movies where every high grossing lead actor is put in the same movie and Hollywood feigns over itself.
I mean dont even bother watching it. I knew nothing about the movie except it had a high review so i decided to give it a try. It wasnt till after i finished watching the first quarter of it that i went online to find out why its so bad and realized that its highly contested. One of those things where if you dont think its the best movie ever then your an uneducated American. So instead of being able to watch the movie for what it is Hollywood decides to tell you that its a great movie and youre too stupid to know it.
Reminds me of an artist in Britain who designed building sized turds to be displayed in a large park and called it art.
Anyways its the movie is a huge waste of time and thats the true true

I'm glad you told me what was true true otherwise I might have had the audacity to make my own decision and it might not have fit with your ideological viewpoint. I bet you are one of those people who think that a 5 year old could do better art than Jackson Pollock.

I gotta say it started to grow on me once the trial started. It's still overrated but I enjoyed it overall, there were some good performances and a few great (but brief) moments.

I felt the same way about the documentary version, it started slow but got better. I preferred the FX series, though.

I caught the ~9hr? documentary early one morning on ESPN when I woke up for some reason at 4am, and watched it through (it was Saturday morning).

....that was awesome. I didn't realize that the damn thing was so long, I just kept watching it, lol. Far more shocking, imo, considering the interviews and comments from friends, and especially the comment from OJ's agent, regarding a conversation they had some years after the trial (prior to OJ being sent off to prison for armed robbery):

OJ: So, what do you think? Do you think I did it?
Agent: ...well, you know. Yeah. I pretty much do
OJ: [shrug--according to agent]. Let me tell you, if Nicole did not answer that door with a knife in her hand, they would both be alive today.

HOLY FUCK!

AFAIK, this would be the only time that OJ ever admitted to even being there on the scene, let alone admitting to 1st? degree manslaughter. holy wtf.

just watched A Bronx Tale - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106489/reference

Directed by (and also starring) Robert DeNiro, back when he could still act parts written for normal human beings.
Pretty solid film, about growing up, love, family, responsibility, and life choices. All wrapped up in a glorious production that reminds me of Little Shop Of Horrors (down to the barbershop quartet). The lead is played by Lillo Brancato (who?) and the main character is Chaz Palminteri, who overdoes it at times, but generally carries the film pretty darn well.
It's weird how i have never noticed this film. Although it's centered around the 1950s american mafia, it's not in the same line as Goodfellas, painting the mobsters as more humane and realistic. Don't expect badass gunfights or though-guy action, this film focuses more on normal people.

interesting bit of trivia copypasta from IMDb
"The story, written by Chazz Palminteri, is adapted from his autobiographical one-man play. His real name is Calogero Lorenzo Palminteri. Several studios approached him to purchase the film rights, with at least one offering $1 million, but Palminteri refused to sell them unless he could write the screenplay and play the role of Sonny. None of the studios agreed as they wanted to hire another actor. Then Robert De Niro offered to go into a 50/50 partnership with all of Palminteri's conditions met as long as De Niro could direct and play Lorenzo. Palminteri agreed and their contract was sealed on a handshake."

Good film, would recommend. 7.5/10

I've loved that film since forever. Been a Chaz Palminteri fan ever since. :)

wow you watched it in one sitting, well done.

there were a couple amazing moments like that, and the friend interviews were definitely the highlight.

...well, I'll say this. Your post was the first where I saw mention that Cloud Atlas had "good reviews." I seem to recall this being universally panned and disliked by most people...for essentially being as bad as you said it was. :D

oh wait...maybe I'm confusing with Jupiter Ascending. ....I've yet to see either.

Jupiter Ascending was pretty rad. It's bananas, but I kind of loved how bananas it was. Cloud Atlas, however, was dumb and boring.

Goliath on Amazon Prime is frigging epic. I'm talking Breaking Bad good. It's only got one season of 8 episodes. I'm on episode 3 and it has been fan-friggin-tastic!

Billy Bob Thorton is killing this role. And that awkward girl from Malcolm in the Middle (long curly black hair) is in it and hot damn, she grew up! Great frigging eye-candy.

Yup her (SPOILER: she's in a bikini in attleast one scene that had no purpose other than to put her in a bikini):

Ya that was a good show. She's in some other "better" scenes too towards the end.
