Think I will sit this one out for awhile. Extremely happy with my Note 3.
QHD sounds nice, but it is not $700 nice. Note 3 still does everything I could need.

I'm on a note 2; and thinking of going with the note 4; question; for version tiered (not unlimited) plan; on the note 3 does the hotspot work if you add a toggle ?

I'm going to guess that you meant a Verizon plan. If you are on the more everything plan, WiFi Hotspot works.

No. I do not have hotspot on my plan. My understanding of the rules; is that due to an agreement between fcc and verizon; if you do not have unlimited data; you are allow to use third party hotspot without a formal verizon hotspot plan. It used to be that you could create a toggle the the built-in hotspot feature of the phone (at least on some models). My question is does this technique work with the note 3.

Probably with root only.

One thing I'm a bit concerned about is the specifications that uSD capacity. The specs say a max of 64GB but I wonder if that's just a conservative number and the Note 4 should be able to handle 128GB cards as well. Does anyone with a Note 3 know if 128GB works on it?

My 128gb card works in my note 3 so I would assume it should on the 4.

Between the note 4, nexus 6, new moto x, what should I go for? I'm really tired of my m7 although it's been a stellar phone due to my rom guys always writing stuff for it.

I'm on a OnePlus One right now, but the Moto X+1 looks pretty sweet. Although, I'll wait to see if they run any of the $100 off deals like they did last year with the original Moto X.

If Nexus 6 pans out close to what the rumors are, then it will be a beast of a phone and I will get one on release.

I sold my Note 3 and Nexus 5 after using the OnePlus for a week, but like anything else the new stuff grabs your attention. Not really with the Note 4 though for whatever reason. Nice enough phone and the upgrades over the Note 3 look good, but like S4 to S5 really not that much that would change how I would use it.

I had the one plus but it had horrible yellow band on the bottom that would not go away with UV light or sunlight after a month.

I don't particularly like touchwiz so my only choice is to wait for nexus. If the moto x had the latest components I would choose it.

I've tried to find yellow on mine by turning off the on screen buttons going G to about:blank and cranking display up to 100% but I don't see any issues on mine. I even had my wife and kids check it out and they said it looks fine and are puzzled by the question.

I have been enjoying my OP but can't wait to see what the Nexus 6 will bring to the table.

That's a good thing. The issue varies because each OPO has a different screen and each one has a different variance of light since the light source is placed at the bottom of the phone. Mine was pretty bad so I sent it back. It literally covered the bottom 30% of the screen and reading anything on it with a light background made it extremely annoying.

I don't want to wait but looks like I have to. I got used to the bigger screen too so using my m7 now is so so.

Anybody think GearVR is a killer app?

I haven't tried any VR experience, Oculus or otherwise.

I'm very tempted by the Edge. Giving up some battery life will be a bit of a bummer, and I'm not sure about how it will feel to hold.

I doubt the Edge will be available on my carrier though. Japanese carriers are hell compared to where I'm from. I guess I'll just try gajin-smashing them.

f/2.0 versus f/2.2 may help a little in low light conditions but in most cases the lens will be stopped down to limit light and provide greater DOF.

I think smartphone lenses are fixed aperture. While diffraction is indeed the real bitch with high-res small-size sensors, it's basically good enough to replace something like a Canon Elph for most simple point and shoot, imo.
