Why the hell can't I say ANYTHING without being jumped on? How about if YOU don't like my posts YOU don't read and respond, instead of telling me I shouldn't?

You are mistaking people's different opinions for "jumping" on you. Can't people disagree with you, and you not whine about it?

No, he can't. You didn't see that his full name was Lord "I can never quit whining" Evermore? ;)

Mods have never responded to me. I quit even trying a long time ago. Before I can even imagine them having a reason not to like me. Given the number of posts asking why the mods aren't answering or why a subscriber isn't getting any response, I don't even think it's me, though I do get the distinct impression that they hate me. Just a few months ago I PMed the mods to mention a sig that was actually quite offensive and got no response, and the sig didn't change.

I don't understand, at all, why it's considered petty for me to mention someone with a word in their name or sig that could be considered offensive (rationalizing how it's a real word that has a non-offensive meaning aside), yet other people get cheered on for posting requests to ban people for swearing or just being rude or posting something they don't agree with. I don't understand why action gets taken for one minor comment that might be non-PC, but other more blatantly offensive stuff is allowed. Just because some of you don't consider bitch a bad word doesn't mean it's not, given the crusade against anything that might get the site in trouble or offend anyone, and I don't understand why I get beaten over the head for mentioning it.

I admit, I'm a negative person. I don't post all cheery and light in Forum Issues praising Zuni's coding skills and the ability of the mods to maintain order. If I see something that doesn't seem right to me, I ask. You guys consider it whining. Maybe you've noticed that when I do ask, I'm often asking the same damn thing I've asked before. Now you're thinking "yeah, don't keep posting the same things". Well maybe if I got an answer once in a while, rather than being flamed for two days straight, I'd stop asking the same questions. Overall, it seems like I just can't get responses to anything that can't be given a pat answer. Anything that would require an explanation of why the forums work in a certain way, or why the mods do certain things, I get brushed off, ignored, posts locked, but not until plenty of people have had a go at belittling my opinion. Sure I may seem to harp on an issue for awhile, but that's because I never feel like I've been answered to any degree. Half the time I don't even get a response other than flames and an occasional agreement, and it doesn't even help that more people than just me would like an answer.

DivideBYZero: apparently you can't recognize irony. (I'll prepare for someone to explain the exact definition of irony and why it doesn't REALLY apply here, just so they can say something else against me.) I'll get flamed or even banned for my comments, but other stuff is allowed.

jliechty: When I have attempted to ask questions, I've tried to be polite. I only get bitchy like this after I've been knocked about a few times in the rush to ignore me or rebuff me. And as I mentioned, you consider it whining, I consider it trying to get an answer to a question and being ignored. The preferential treatment people get, and the sycophantic worship of the mods and Zuni and Anand is just sickening sometimes. Not everyone has to see only the good stuff, someone has to point out when change is needed. Even if I just ask a simple question I don't get an answer, and if I ask again, I'm whining.

And of course, one thing you mention is the varying moderation. Something I've asked about on my occasions and only gotten USERS responding to praising the moderators for being able to handle the job (and a few agreeing to some degree that it could be better); never a response from anyone in charge as to why it's so variable, why the mods seem to be bipolar at times, why one mod lets something slip by but another mod will lock it immediately, et cetera. If the reason is just "because we like for the users not to have any idea whether they're going to cross the line depending on which mod is on duty and if they're in a bad mood" fine, but nobody will even tell me that. So I "whine" about it once in a while.

Mill: people can certainly disagree with me. Your first post in the thread wasn't disagreeing, it was being rude to me for having an opinion. I don't even care that it was rude, except that it implies my opinion wasn't of any worth. Would my not using the word "tattle" have made the post entirely different? Would it not have been tattling then? What other way could I have phrased the post so that it was just reporting something semi-offensive instead of tattling? Does the view that I was tattling make the things I was tattling about any less valid? Assuming one considered them valid at all.

I think it is bullsh!t that you say anyone here is rude, crude or offensive after seeing some of the things you have said on IRC. A bit hypocritical maybe? Why don't you think I "implied" your opinion was of no worth? Maybe it was because you were hypocritical at best and tattling at worst. You can't stand for people to disagree with you(me either) but then again most of the time I can move on with no hard feelings. I find it hard to believe that you don't understand why the mods ignore you. They tire of incessant whining and hypocrisy as much as the rest of us.

You realize your original post made you sound like a three year old right?

What I've said on IRC has nothing to do with what's said here. Can't even imagine why that would be brought up. I can be as rude, crude and offensive as I want there, because that's not a moderated forum claiming to be family-friendly. As I have said, *I* don't consider much of anything offensive. I do manage to recognize what someone else might be offended by, and point it out, since the site wants to avoid anything even mildly offensive. But only when it suits them. And only when it's someone who doesn't suck up.

And the mods job is to deal with users. Whether they like them or not. Being volunteers doesn't change the job description. And I can't "whine" about something if I'm given an answer in the first place. There's also the fact that they never paid attention to me in the first place, so they can't even use an excuse like getting tired of me.

As for the first post, sure, fine, it made me seem like a three year old. Does that change the idea that the words shouldn't be allowed? A minor thing, maybe, but lots of other minor issues get blown up around here, and nobody gets called childish for those.

The "family" forum idea hasn't been enforced or brought up in about 2 years.

I wouldn't know one way or the other on that issue, but there's no doubt in my mind that this is a forum that I would not want my strict, ultra-conservative parents discovering. ;)

I PM the moderators at least once a week, and I almost always get a response. Either it's just you, or you're lying.

Yes. That's right. I've got nothing better to do than make up issues on a message board.

Whatever. I'll keep whining, you guys keep flaming. God forbid anything be done to resolve problems.

Thank you for your support.

Just figured it out huh?

Joe, man, you're cool and all, but you need to move on. You are literally obsessed with this forum and how it works.
Take your passion and apply it to something useful.
Policits, Political activism, Activism, ANYTHING but this forum.

This is an insightful, informative and humorous thread. I like LE's posts. There is a reason that LE is Elite...

Hey, weird, you can say shite but not sh*t, but if you try to say them both, shite gets highlighted except for the e.

I would imagine that there are a few Elites that in hindsight, they wish that hadn't bestowed that title on.

Of course we all make mistakes. I don't think LE is off base with anything IMO, just that he voices his opinion more than others...

He understands your own self-importance, as defined by your facetious Avatar.

I must admit that the avatar and LE seem kind of ironic.

I think LE is a whiny bitch, but I think that of alot of people, in fact I think most anyone who complains about "bad" words, posts about drugs, etc etc are whiny bitches, but hey, it's not my forum, so Im in no position to tell them to fsck off or anything.

If this was my forum, I'd tell all those people to stop whining or get the fsck out, LE included, but like I said, it's not my forum.

Why don't the rest of you get off LE's back, he has as much right to whine as any of us, he just uses that right a bit more, and if Zuni/Anand/whoever thinks he should stop, they'll probably let him know.

LE's posts are no worse than 90% of the junk posted in OT anyway.

I agree with the last part. At least LE has the common courtesy to post his snivelings in the right forum! In fact it's gotten to the point where I look for LE's posts just for the quality of his whinings.
