I think the thread is troll. You are basically saying ios updated now what's missing Android fanboys? We name off numerous shortcomings and you still say well I don't care about those things.

Some of the things I don't care about, others I do, but not enough to switch at this point.

Are there not features that iOS has that you do not care about?

My phone actively and willingly allowing me to engage in illegal activity is a feature, whether you like it or not.

Fixed that for you. Whatever you wanna call it, you are using to phone to do something you should not do.

I think the iPhone keyboard is much better than Android's. I can make my fingers smoke on an iPhone. Many more games available at the app store. That's really it for me.
I'm a big fan of Android. Its basically like using windows vs a mac just in phone form. I like the freedom of Android just like I enjoy the freedom of using windows on the desktop. Some people like the locked down more secure environment of apple world. Just not for me personally.

Widgets!
Ability to change almost any aspect of the interface, including but not limited to:
-Keyboard
-Default music player
-Default email client
-Default texting app
-Default calendar App (can iOS do this already?)
Ability to "root" your phone without people referring to it in some idiotic term like "jailbroken."
Ability to NOT use itunes, ever.
Ability to use a file manager app on the phone.
Ability to use drag and drop file managing from a computer via USB.
Ability to use expandable storage (SD/micro-SD).
Google maps...we'll see how good the new Apple version is.

What is the goal of your question? To silence Android fans about any advantages in their OS over Apple? If you want an iPhone, go buy it. If you already have one, you probably have no intention of switching, so just keep on using it.

Well, I guess you better surrender your Mac too then. You might use one of these evil features to commit a crime, and we just can't risk that possibility...

Riiiight..... Because downloading mp3 from any source other than itunes is illegal? Possession of mkv and m4v video means you illegally downloaded some movie?

My phone should not decide what's best for me, or what I should and should not do. Any phone that does will not get a penny from me.

My goal was to find out what Android fans think is still missing from iOS.

Did I ever mention mp3 files? Please show me a site that sells US TV shows in MKV format. Show me a site that sells US release movies in MKV format. Either you converted it to MKV on your own with your hard copy of it, or you downloaded it. One way is legal, the other way is not. Now you add m4v to the conversation, which I *never* once mentioned. MKV is the format of choice for illegally downloaded products.

You conveniently ignore every other example I used. Emulators are never legal. Streaming movies/sports/whatever using flash is illegal.

I am all for doing whatever you want. Saying its a 'feature' of one phone to enable illegal activity is ridiculous.

Any 'feature' of android that enables stealing should not be considered an advantage IMO.

This includes:
Emulators
Using flash to steal sports streams
Using torrents to steal TV episodes
.mkv files, which are generally stolen episodes/movies anyways

Wow, I never knew that freedom was considered a bad thing!

I guess I shouldn't consider the accelerator pedal in my car an advantageous feature because it enables me to break the speed limit. Even if I don't use it for that, I COULD. Same with the steering wheel. I might steer right into someone and hurt them! Hey, why not ban all pointy objects while we're at it? Oh, and the Mac that you use has BitTorrent programs available for it. You don't have to use them or even install them but they do exist, so that automatically means Macs are piracy machines. The internet as a whole has been used to commit countless crimes, so maybe all internet access should be banned.

It is the responsibility of the user to act in a lawful and ethical manner. I am not a child and I don't need a company telling me what I can and can't do because a few people ruined it for everyone.

The features coming in IOS 6 are not even close to making me want to switch and I am definately not a die-hard android fan. To me, the stuff they are finally getting in ios 6 should have been there in ios 5. I dont know why its taken so long. The map thing has me meh. It looks like its gonna need yet another overhaul.

If a feature enables both legal and illegal activity, then it's still a feature. There a numerous legal uses for mkv files, for flash, and torrents. If you refuse to count features because they may be used for illegal purposes in addition to all their legal uses, then good luck with that. I suppose that's why Apple doesn't even allow you to access the file system on your phone, whereas every other OS in the last 40 years had at least that much basic functionality. Again, I will vote with my wallet every time for more freedom as opposed to nanny sitting.

I would like to see the above in iOS, the rest IDGAF or are addressed in iOS6. If I JB my iPhone do I get access to (some sort of) File Manager?

Okay, so you admit that it is possible that someone made MKV files of movies that he legally owns. I've done that myself. But you then say that MKV is a "pirate format" or something and therefore being able to play it is not a feature? MP3 is a format of choice for pirates too, doesn't mean all MP3 files are illegitimate. Even torrents have a lot of legal uses; a ton of non-copyrighted material is shared via BitTorrent.

Actually that's not true either. I believe emulators are legally distributable as long as they don't include a copy of the original system's BIOS. So if the emulator requires a BIOS dump you'll have to extract it from an original system yourself if you want to stay in the clear, and you'll also have to extract any game files from cartridges/discs that you own. Of course, the vast, vast majority of people don't do that and instead just download copyrighted BIOS files and games, but it is possible to use an emulator legally. For disc-based systems, it's theoretically easier since you don't have to find a rare, possibly discontinued cartridge reader.
