So when you said this wasn't a troll thread...

No, no, no. I really wanted, and still want to, hear what Android fans think iOS is/will be still lacking. It seems to me that many of the complaints have been addressed; I was, and am, curious what is still missing.

OK, my mistake.

Like it would've mattered. Nothing said was going to change your mind. Everything you own is Apple. Even your router. You're not open to trying something else. You're poster Apple fan/customer.

Yes, I do like Apple products, but that was not always the case. I use to be all-in Windows and Palm (I even use to write PC hardware reviews for another website). When the features of Apple products surpassed Windows and Palm in my mind (in 2009), I switched.

I never said I wanted my mind changed - I said I wanted to know what Android fans thought was missing. At this time, many of the prior complaints have been dealt with, some of them don't matter to me at all and some don't matter enough for me to switch. All that may change with an Android release down the road.

If you wanted to know what 'Android fans' wanted then surely whether you think their needs are met or not is irrelevant?

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

I just wanted to know Android fans opinions. I seem to be getting those.

What seems to be the problem?

The features coming in IOS 6 are not even close to making me want to switch and I am definately not a die-hard android fan. To me, the stuff they are finally getting in ios 6 should have been there in ios 5. I dont know why its taken so long. The map thing has me meh. It looks like its gonna need yet another overhaul.

Any 'feature' of android that enables stealing should not be considered an advantage IMO.

This includes:
Emulators
Using flash to steal sports streams
Using torrents to steal TV episodes
.mkv files, which are generally stolen episodes/movies anyways

Seeing as Turn by Turn Nav is only on the 4s and presumably on the 5, that leaves a ton of existing iPhone users out in the cold. Not everyone's upgrade coincides with every new iPhone release.

Asking for people's opinions and then saying that their opinions don't matter to you might be considered a bit trollish.

waze is there and available for them and always has been. You can't count 3rd party android apps as 'filling the gap' but not count 3rd party iOS apps as filling the same gap.

Yeah damn them for supporting mp3 formats.

I always find the complaint that "X had Y feature first" a spurious argument.

People complain that something does not have Y feature, then, when that feature is added, people complain that there was a delay. It makes no sense to me.

That is not what I said. I wanted to know what they felt was missing. I then took that information and applied it to my wants and needs. I did not say that their opinions did not matter.

In other word, saying that something they find important is not important to me is not the same as saying their opinions do not matter.

I just thought it was funny that one person wanted things from the stock Mobile OS whereas the other essentially said the opposite.

MotionMan

I never use the stock player for mkvs mind you, but many Android devices can play such files with the stock player while iOS can't.

mkv is a format. I rip all my DVDs and Blu Rays to mkv. As noted above that is like saying "playing MP3s doesn't count because all mp3 files are pirate files."

Fair enough, but my point still stands.

Because everyone should want exactly the same thing?

I thought it was funny that one person touted Android because it ran X feature out of the box and someone else said it does not need to run X feature out of the box because it is easier to fill with 3rd party apps.

With exact opposite statements, both writers were saying Android was better than iOS for the reasons stated.

It is a little like naming your dog Stay and telling him to come.

Again, why are your wants and needs relevant?

You already said you didn't want your mind changed.

I think the thread is troll. You are basically saying ios updated now what's missing Android fanboys? We name off numerous shortcomings and you still say well I don't care about those things.

I agree that it's silly to criticize them for taking too long to implement a certain feature. Once it's done, it's done.

The problem is that they aren't making nav available to older iPhones. Basically if they had been a little quicker to include that feature, then iPhone 4 users would have gotten access to it, or even 3GS users. There doesn't seem to be any reason not to include navigation other than to encourage users of older iPhones to upgrade.
