Went running today, about ten minutes in I felt my nose running, wiped my hand against it and noticed it was bleeding.

By the time I got home I was covered in blood, it had pooled in my hands, and my face was covered. I've never had a nose bleed before so I don't know if its normal to bleed so much.

Is this anything to worry about? Its been a few hours and I've had plenty to eat and drink since then but I still feel weak.

Health related cliffs:
21 years old
Weightlifting/exercising 4x a week for the last 3 years
No medication, no medical conditions, not sick, etc.

It's normal. Basically your nose dried out and most likely the skin cracked open. Back in HS, a friend got nose bleeds one winter like crazy. Eventually the doctor had to cotterize (spelling wrong) it to get it to stop. Most likely, yours will fix itself and you'll be fine.

Probably nothing to worry about. Cold, dry air will sometimes cause nose bleeds, doubly so if you are sucking in a ton of it while running. It can be very irritating - if it happens during class or wakes you up in the middle of the night - but is typically not dangerous.

If it happens again, I highly recommend getting a humidifier for your house and bedroom. A tiny bit of petroleum jelly inside the nostril before bed can help too.

I disagree with the above two comments. I had the same problem, but I found out it was a result of problematic blood vessels in the lining of the brain, and a direct link to my headaches and my panic disorder. Doctors kept telling me how it's nothing to worry about, and I seen PLENTY of them, but I felt there was serious problem and indeed there was. I eased down on exercise, running and all that. Took it really slow. Eventually I started feeling better and the nosebleeds became very rare. Many years later an EMT used one of those "things" that burn like hell inside my nose and at that point my nosebleeds virtually stopped. I probably had one or two nosebleeds within the last 4 years. I regret that this was done to me though, because at least I had an indicator telling me when I was pushing myself too hard. Now, I no longer have an "engine overheat" light.
