What is wrong with installing this if you already have 2001 on your rig? I ordered mine over the weekend and got it Tuesday or Wednesday. But when i tried to install over my copy of 2001, it told me to uninstall 2001 first. I did then it installed fine.

Thanks, this is a great deal. Seems like they have good prices on a lot of other sw, too. I ordered mine last friday and got it yesterday, so pretty responsive service, but I live in NY, which is fairly close to their base in OH. It shipped first class mail, so depending on where you live it might take a while to get it.

I installed this over a version of NAV Corporate edition without any problems - simply didn't install NAV2002. I'd heed maxcom's advice, though, seems like it could be problem if you try to force your way over the warnings of the installer.

Two words up updating your virus definitions:

1) you can download the update packs from www.sarc.com regardless of how old your program is.

2) you can change the date on your copy of Windows if you want to update via live update (at least with 2001).

I make no comments on the ethical implications of either action. :p

<< Ordered on Jan 10, still waiting, although order status recently changed to "sent." I am trying to be paitient... I noticed the Radified Guide to Norton Ghost states that Ghost 2002 requires a serial number to restore, while Ghost 2001 did not. (If you have Ghost 2001 and are not using XP, the recommendation is to stay with Ghost 2001.) If you do not get a serial number with this disc, I would test a reimage before relying on Ghost 2002 images as protection. -w >>

Try reading the first page of this thread. Ghost tells you the license number, you just have to write it down.

2 questions, when I first installed this, I installed over 2001. It recognized that 2001 was on my system and I uninstalled it. 2002 then installed fine. Does that mean I'm okay, or could it cause problems in the future? if so should I run that program from the link maxcom provided?

MY other question involves ghost. I read the post about the license number on the splash screen, but I can't seem to find it. When i open Norton Ghost explorer I get a splash screen for about 1 second, but i don't see a number on it, and even if there was I wouldn't have time to write it down. Am I missing it, or am I not looking in the right place.

To respond to several questions:

There is NO registration code required.

The serial number for Ghost appears when you run GHOST. Not GHOST EXPLORER. These are 2 different programs.

ALWAYS UNINSTALL BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEWEST VERSION! This goes for anything and everything (unless it is an update like Nero 5.5.5.4 to 5.5.6.1). This program is not an UPDATE, but a new version of the program itself.

It will come in a paper sleeve as a CD only. Thus on the website it states CD only. If you want retail go to CompUSSR or Stubles.

Ordered SystemWorks 2002 for $13.95 and Norton Internet Security 2002 for $19.95 on Monday and received Friday. Ohio to California. Shipping and handling fee was $4.95. Postage on small package was $.80. JCS responded quickly in reply to email. Price sure beat retail and mail in rebates!

I appologize, but I am still confused. What do I have to do to get the license number for ghost. I will be upgrading to XP soon, and I was informed I would need ghost to do this

Another thanks for the post. Man those programs cost over $100 individually. I received mine days ago, but I haven't used it yet. I might never even use it. That's when you know you're addicted to bargains! ;)

I like receiving just the cd. Retail boxes are a waste of space.

By the way, what does "Bump" mean? Is that like a ditto to the previous post?

Bump moves the post to the top.

Also, people will put "ttt" which means to the top.

As for using ghost, do a google search on the topic. You can find instructions on the internet. The license number for ghost 2002 comes up on the initial splash screen.

The inititial splash screen to what? I have two options under Norton Ghost
1. Boot wizard
2. Explorer

Only one has a splash screen and I don't see the number on it.

So how exactly do you use the ghost that comes with this?

2. Explorer

The splash screen to GHOST! NOT Ghost Explorer or Boot Wizard.

Ghost is a DOS program only. It DOES NOT run in Windows. Look for Ghostpe.exe in the Ghost folder or do a search for it. Also in the Ghost folder there is an Acrobat file called Ghost_NSW_Guide.pdf that tells you how to use it. You can Ghost from partition to partition, partition to another hard drive, and disk to disk. Do your research before trying it out. You can easily lose all of your information. Like I said, only run Ghost from DOS! Never from Windows.

I ordered one.
I don't normally use most of the Norton stuff included, but
it's a good price and nice to have on hand if needed.
Thank's overclock
