They are expensive and have been pretty damn popular since grade school. Shit looks warm though.

I wear a Columbia shell that is useless in winter without layering. Works for me cause I get hot after walking for 5 minutes and like to strip.

North Face Denali

I have an NF pants. i wear it for hiking

The NF denali rarely go on sale; MSRP on that jacket is $165. Those Denali jacket is not cheap and they're warm but not wind proof.

No, I'm cheap. I have a generic puffy coat that I've had for like 5-6 years and a 99 cent hat.

Why don't you wear your old Army uniforms if you're so cheap?

Three reasons

1. I have a puffy coat already. I think I got it before I went in the Army.
2. I had to return the nice gortex jackets.
3. I don't fit in my Army stuff anymore.

I still wear the non-descript stuff in civies. Foliage green fleece jacket and caps. They're perfect for the fall.

They're right up there with Affliction and Tap Out gear in terms of clothing for people who need to feel like they fit in.

I have one now. But only because one of the companies that does work through us sent them as thank you gifts.

This.

I've had one for a couple of years now, it's waterproof or gorotex or something... great in the rain.

I prefer EMS stuff.

I have one of their Sync shells. Nice because when it gets colder, you can snap in one of their fleeces. Compared to the NF Denali fleece, EMS's is a whole lot nicer. TNF has definitely dropped a bit in quality, but since it's fashion gear, it doesn't really matter.

Of course, when I'm snowobarding and falling a lot because I suck, I'm glad I got a decent shell.

I'll just chime in to say you get what you pay for with outdoor/cold gear. Northface makes pretty decent stuff. I've got a sleeping bag of theirs that is over 25 years old and still keeps me warm in below freezing temps.

I never understood why people would pay so much money for skiing/boarding or cold gear - until I got some of my own. Super light, super warm, blocks the wind, keeps you dry, etc. It's worth it.

But I focused more on skiing/boarding stuff because it also doubles as cold weather gear. Can board in 20 below temps and be fine. I thought people were crazy for spending 300+ bucks on a jacket and 100 bucks on underwear - then I got some and now I know why.

I've had my jacket for quite awhile but now that I see them all over the place I decided I needed a replacement. So, instead of buying a new jacket with yet another name brand I decided to get creative.

The n,r,t,h in the word north are now blacked out on my jacket. Figure it out.

Mountain Hardwear is the new North Face. Get with it!

I've owned both and I'd pay the extra $$ for the NF apparrel. NF does well with the apparel but MH does a little better with the gear.

True. Very true. NF has some nice bags that are lightweight and do well in low temps. Of course not everyone wants to spend $150+ for a sleeping bag though. But if your ass depends on it....it's worth every $. 😀

Jackets are for wimps. Earth does not get temperatures cold enough to require one. Pluto maybe, but not Earth.

So says the poster from Canada. You probably live in the warm part of Canada!! 😛

Nope. He's probably Irish/Scottish.

Those guys NEVER get cold.

It's all about me. People see my 22 year old North Face jacket and want to be like me so they buy one. Too bad they aren't made in the USA no more.

Nah cold part of Canada, but not the coldest, like James Bay area, or the north territories. If you want cold, you'll find it there. (or Alaska lol)

We see -39's here. I've even seen -50 but that's cheating, since that was with the windchill. -39 was not.

North Face Jackets are kinda like Tommy Hilfiger clothes were 10 years ago. Used to be l33t, now everyone and their trailer park has one

Except North Face jackets actually serve a practical purpose.

Something warm to wear after you take a bitch's Gucci bag?

When I was in the military they sent people to Ft Greely, Alaska to test outdoor/cold weather gear. I have been to Ft Drum (Watertown) NY and Norway. The hell with that!!

Oh and factoring in windchill is NOT cheating. 😀
