North Korea nuclear test feared after earthquake detected

This is still a low-yield test part. Analyzing the actual nuke yield by the Norks is est. at 100x/2 magnitudes the yield in the test. Wouldn't be surprised. If they already have finished the ICBM that could hit any North America target either.

Ignoring isn't diplomacy, and yet war is diplomacy.

Now its time to watch the news agencies slowly transition through their prescribed "OMG don't worry it wasn't a bomb" to "OMG it was a bomb, but it failed" to "OMG it didn't fail, but it's not a Hydrogen bomb" to finally" OK it was a Hydrogen bomb, but we don't think they can fit it on a missile" to finally "we don't think their missiles are very good!".


In other news this is very good for me because it means the 20 or so OTM calls I sold on AMD won't be exercised. Thanks Kim!

I wouldnt mind NK being delt with, with force, I would just very much dislike Trump to have ANYTHING to do with it cause you know its gonna be a cluster f if he is involved.
 
Lil Kim knows that a couple of missiles with hydrogen warheads will turn the status quo on its head. Trump is the bigliest (Trumpnacular) mouthpiece to ever occupy the WH and brings shame upon our nation each time one of his man child outbursts goes public.

If he actually used them on SK it would seriously damage global trade and everyone would immediately feel its impact. I'm sure that China is excited about having a reckless nuclear neighbor on its border too but they also have a large nuclear arsenal of their own..

Why would we invade NK? Here's what Kim gets for his efforts. There will be an analysis of capabilities and silo locations. All at once B2's drop MOPs on them and Kim's palace. NK then becomes a pit of millions of refugees in their own nation and mass starvation follows with us having to shoot hordes of people charging through the DMZ.

"Death from above", and it will probably be theirs first. If Kim strikes first China will be looking as a glow on their horizon and say "that was not nice".

There are no checks on Kim. Whatever happens in the moment translates into action and he was raised to believe he is a demigod.

With Iraq, the discussion often spoke of "saber rattling. Nothing will happen"

That's where we are now, with nukes instead of swords.

the US won't nuke NK. what happens if winds carry fallout into china? can the US attack NK and completely take out their war machine? prevent every long range and short range missiles they have? take out the supposed 1million man army ready to march into SK?

don't see it happening without seoul being smashed. maybe even a nuke fired off. why would a nut job about to be taken down refrain from lashing out?
 
The sad bit is that Trump cheerleaders were quick to say "see, finally a President who would talk tough and keep North Korea in check!"

Of course, the reality is very different... if anything, Trump's ratcheting up the tensions and seems hell-bent on provoking a fight.

North Korea's real threat is not their nukes, nor their ICBMs, but the hundreds (maybe thousands) of conventional artillery pieces trained on Seoul. Even if you can neutralise their silos there will still be mass civilian causalities. At a certain point those casualties may be deemed 'acceptable'. But it's anyone's guess when that point will be reached.

There's no good solution, but taking down communications, leadership, and maximising confusion is better than not doing so. In any event this is a cluster

The reality is that other nuclear states, most likely China and/or Russia, are feeding North Korea technology, and the international community is incapable of doing much of anything to keep rogue nations in check. North Korea emerging as a nuclear power predates Trump, and demonstrates the folly of our focus in the Middle East when the more dangerous threat lay elsewhere.

Japan, Australia and our other allies in the region will eventually lose patience with Chinese expansion in their sphere and North Korea, China's convenient little unpredictable distraction.

So glad we sold out our global position so we can get cheap mass produced crap made in China and sold in big box stores. Totally worth it.

America did not have a coherent foreign policy during the Cold War, and its gotten worse instead of better since the wall came down.

The only thing that makes the situation more dire is that Trump might actually push the button.

I find it unlikely that China or Russia want a possible nuclear war on their doorstep. I'd expect Pakistan and freelance ex Soviet techs and scientists first.
 
I see China as fully funding and assisting North Korea with their Nuclear weapons program.

They are using it as a bargaining tool with the US. "Say US! We will help you with North Korea a little bit if you stay out of our way in the South China Sea and trade shenanigans..."

I'm confused as to why you are even commenting on this topic. Didn't you learn your lesson from the last time you were exposed as a charlatan and a know-nothing regarding North Korea? I distinctly recall you being "sure" that they had no ability to miniaturize a nuke. Before that you were "sure" they couldn't build an ICBM capable of reaching US mainland. There were other things you were wrong about (you are wrong about almost everything related to world politics) but I don't recall them specifically.


What made you think you learned something new about north korea? Did you watch a CNN segment this morning and decide you'd inform us all about your new knowledge about pakistan and "freelance ex soviet techs and scientists" and their program to defeat the DPRK?
