Replace "the sun" with "my son" in the article.
Great story!

A North Korean central news anchorman said during a live broadcast: "We are very delighted to announce a successful mission to put a man on my son. North Korea has beaten every other country in the world to my son. Hung Il Gong is a hero and deserves a hero's welcome when he returns home later this evening".

Hung is expected back on Earth in just a few hours time, where he will be greeted by his uncle, and supreme leader: Kim Jong-un. Hung traveled in the cover of darkness, as it would protect him from the harsh, and extreme temperatures of my son. Hung will also be bringing back some son spot samples for his uncle, which I'm sure he will show off to the world in a short amount of time.

The North Korean central news agency is calling the 18-hour mission the "greatest human achievement of our time" - and so they should, landing a man on my son, a trip that took 18 hours return, is quite the achievement, all things considered. I wonder if Dennis Rodman considered this a slam dunk for the country.

You could apply it to the Onion and everything else like it. It's satirical humor of something which deserves a good mocking.

Except that website isn't satire and is trying to pass it off as real news...

Most people here assumed it's a real thing from NK, qed.

What I find the saddest of all is that I can't tell if this is an official statement or an Onion type spoof.

That's exactly what this is. The original source says it outright in their disclaimer:

"Waterford Whispers News is a fabricated satirical newspaper and comedy website published by Waterford Whispers News."

The sites reporting this without even spending the slightest amount of time looking into the source are pathetic. And it's pretty obvious that NK wouldn't push this kind of propaganda to their people. Saying something that no one would believe to be true is counterproductive. A lot of them may already be aware that the government lies or at least embellishes, but this would just be rubbing it in.
