actually english is the world language, 1 because of the spread of the english language during the time of the british empire.m and 2. (and most imporantly). after ww2 america made up over 60% of the worlds economy. and doing buisness meant doing buisness with america. so you learned the language of the guys you wanted to trade with.

i have to agree with stormrider. Chinese is becoming a dominant language in the world. Which is why I need to pick up my Chinese again, would be a shame to lose it.

on a completely different note, in the article, the correspondent is richard schlesinger, i wonder if he's in any relation to arthur schlesinger?

Mandarin is the official language of China. I swear I'm going to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

hehe, don't worry, I completely agree with that statement. Doesn't solve the issue of her not understanding what my background is like, but the language thing for me kids is solved. :D

I think I'll still go with the real thing though ;)
