Nolan's next: Dunkirk

Hopefully it is not as flawed as Interstellar. Looks like a World War action movie, but youtube has it listed as a epic action thriller...

Nolan: It may be mediocre, it may be great, but it will be worth the price of admission.

So far so good, anyway. I hope that is the only trailer we ever see. 😀

from imdb...

Miraculous evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, Britain and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German army from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between May 27- June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.

It's an awesome story that would make for a fantastic film. The Brits recruited hundreds of citizens to use any vessel they could spare, captaining their own ships in the evacuation.

You had bakers and fishermen and cobblers and all sorts of people involved--if they had a dingy that could hold only 4 people, they volunteered and rowed that vessel across the channel.

It was really quite awesome.

Interstellar had a lot of flaws but I wouldn't say I was disappointed like I was with Inception and Dark Knight Rises. If it ends up in Interstellar's class I will be more than happy.

TBH if its "as flawed" as the best cinematic experience I have ever had in 35 years I think itll be fine

LOL. I don't think I'd classify Interstellar as my best cinematic experience, but I agree with the gist of what you're saying.

Teaser has me all antsy in the pantsy now. DO WANT

did you see it in 70mm IMAX?

and really all that comment is about is the A/V quality and nothing to do with the story

I will probably see it but not sure that I want to... Seeing Allies getting their asses kicked early in the war isn't the most fun? Give me February 1945 onward movies...

+1

D-Day has been done enough times on the "we're back" end of things, as awesome as it was also.

Hopefully he finds someone to write some decent characters and dialogue this time around. Lord knows he can't do it.

I'd like to see a modern treatment of the Battle of Britain. Maybe it'll be Nolan's sequel to Dunkirk. Kursk might make a good movie too, hard to get the scope of it in a film though.
