It does have its issues. My Nexus S hiccups doing simple stuff like loading up facebook pictures or browsing the web. I constantly have to go to running services to terminate shit and allocate memory, something IMO I should not have to do. It's also a2.3 release phone:\

If there is good integration with services namely Office and Cloud Services AND Microsoft does a good job of showing that, I think it will do well.

Maybe its the fact that you're termintating services that causes it to lag. Maybe you should listen to every single Google engineer and internet users who say that killing tasks by hand is more work and no gain/hurt phone.

Do people actually use their phone as output to a TV that much? That seems like it'd be a very niche scenario to me.

And for those that watch videos on your phone, I think you would have a pretty hard time telling the difference between 720p and 1080p on it, hell when I was buying a TV the general consensus was that you would have to be quite close (with in a couple feet) to even a 32 inch screen to tell the difference between them. And a phone's going to have much higher PPI, making it even more difficult to discern.

Considering that most Android phones are 800x480 or 960x540, while 720p is 1280x720, there should be no visible difference between watching a 720p video vs a 1080p video on it.

The only use for playing 1080p video on a smartphone is if you want to output it to a TV. Admittedly that is a pretty cool thing to be able to do, but I personally have no use for such a feature.

It wasn't too long ago when people didn't use their phones for anything other than making calls. As technology advances, we gain the ability to do more and more with that one device. Right now I hookup my laptop to the TV to watch videos. In a few months I'll be doing that with the Transformer tablet. Then it'll just be with just my phone. :)

My EVO only allowed me to see my last 8 apps I've used. iOS let's me at upward to 12 (and counting)

i can see the last 10 if i filter the app drawer to the "recent" group. i can also set up custom folders on the home screen that sort by frequency used, and dont include apps i dont want to show intentionally.

my kids like to use my phone to make stupid videos sometimes. they then take it to the 65" to watch and show friends their boneheadedness. i also have a handful of movies on my phone. these have come in handy at other peoples houses when we are looking for something to keep the kids busy. i only have one friend without an HDtv, so its not a bad thing. ive also been bored while sitting and waiting at jobsites, so ill load up a movie or netflix and chill for a while until people show up or whatever.

i really wish some of these devs would hook into the mini hdmi port on the dX and allow more uses of it tho. it would be cool to be able to stream website viewing onto a tv, or use netflix the same way.

Best quality video I've seen of the actual device so far.
And they claim you dont need micro-SD because of cloud service. Which is bullshit.
If I go up in the mountains I wont have 3G and probably not 2G. And 2G damn sure aint enough fro streaming music and I dont care what anybody says, 3G really isnt good enough for streaming movies anyway.
I'd wanna be able to use an extra 32 gigs for movies and music so the onboard 8 can focus on apps and map data. Again I'll be needing offline maps for when I leave cellular coverage.

BUMP!

Read the dates, newb!

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/12/nokia-lumia-710-tmobile/

Shorty's opinion?
Too damn late. Should have had it out before Christmas. People wont feel like spending money in January.
And I already have service, so I really wanna know what the full price is.
Also, its just the 710 coming out soon. No hard date on the 800, which nerds want. But casual users may give this a look.

No price on the 800 either, which is even more annoying.

I think this phone is pretty neat looking. I think it might catch the eyes of casual crowd a lot more than the current W7 phones. You guys have to remember that hardcore users on anand and xda and the like are the minority. Suzy 16 year old is the majority, and carriers are going to cater to the majority. Not to mention the great price tag. Will be much easier to persuade the parents to go for the $50 phone.

I'm looking forward to the rumored Lumia 900 personally....maybe we'll see something at CES.

Except it's a different product entirely.

Doesn't really matter, and I've never heard of an actual product called the iTouch. Every time I hear it I know it's being used to talk about the iPod Touch without having to say iPod Touch every time.

I am thoroughly unimpressed with the Lumia 710 and 800, personally. Iknow Nokia is renowned for their build quality and such, but the Samsung Focus S and HTC Titan just seem to be better products. Neither phone has a front-facing camera or gyroscope; I know they're a bit useless in practice, but they're pretty standard on the Mango phones (and modern phones in general).
