Honestly you guys are being kinda dickish. I know it's hard but try and step outside of the ATOT bubble for just one minute and try to see the other side.

I know this will be hard to do if you have over 30000 posts and/or have been a member for more than 4 years but try.

Yeah I agree. This is totally in the wrong sub-forum though. Should be moved to MD&G.

Also, I'm wondering if Microsoft does own Symbian. From what I understand, Microsoft basically just bought the hardware parts of Nokia and the brand names Lumia and Asha. I'm not sure about them owning Symbian now but don't really feel like going to look it up because it's Symbian. No one gives a shit anymore.

did you read the thread I linked to? The only reason the OP joined this forum was to post this trash. Not to contribute, not to learn, but to spam.

But the best part was the OP's line in that thread:
so if we get the 20000 Nokia releases the codes? What do we do with the codes?

Its just more stupid people using our forum as a dumping ground for ignorant babble.

nokia still have all the privileges for symbian and the source...only they can release it...and it's not a bug symbian is AWESOME they just left it....and the devices aren't old....like 808..it has only 1 year I think...
Over two and a half years ago Nokia announced they would be going exclusive to Windows Phone and basically giving up on Meego and Symbian. You've had that long to move on and get a new phone. I understand not everyone is in the American two contract cycle but the only people still using Symbian phones are either people too cheap or too stubborn to get a new phone. Just go buy a Nokia 520 (http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia520/). They are available in the US for about $100 off contract (no subsidies) so I can't imagine them being very expensive outside of the US.

Although Blackberry is going private, I can't see why anyone would buy one of their phones at this point unless it was for a business reason. Two years is a long time in the mobile world and who knows what the company will look like even six months from now.

Why would Nokia/Microshaft what to release the source? Then they'd have to explain why all those NSA backdoors are littered all over the place.

Why would they do that. They are still selling symbian phones in many "emerging markets" IE to poor people.

Microsoft would never release source code for symbian. Because they have the own OS to support. People are probably going to upgrade to there OS now. Also, Microsoft have never stood for open source Apps and OS. it's strictly a private company with profits in mind. It would rather let symbian die then to make it opensource.

Read some more. Your GK is weak. Microsoft now owns nokia. And microsoft would never release or support any other OS other than windows. They have done that in the past with there competitors. And they will do it now. Microsoft and google have different market strategies. 1st one hates opensource and charges for every single thing. Second one have made everything open and charges from business entities.
Even now if you don't get it. Then it's impossible to get sense into someone who is non sense.
