I think there is a lot to develop.

Currently I am part of 4 major custom firmwares to Symbian devices and I get around 30.000 - 40.000 downloads of the files I produce during updates.

Mobile OS's based on Linux systems have open source projects and if you guys ever heard of xda-developers, then you should know.
there are a lot of tech geeks and nokia / symbian fans all over the world and in despite that they are misunderstood by the mainstream iOs and Android fanatics, we are all still tech fans and should vouch for eachother, other than the response given here

A lot of people program around on their phones nowadays and install tweaks and mods...
all we are asking for is to Release a little bit of code, before time wastes a perfectly good system

I am disappointed to read this kind of feedback from a site that calls itself "anandtech"

Either the OP started a new account to "help" with his plea...or he went whining to his forum and begged for help...either way...

Honestly you guys are being kinda dickish. I know it's hard but try and step outside of the ATOT bubble for just one minute and try to see the other side.

I know this will be hard to do if you have over 30000 posts and/or have been a member for more than 4 years but try.

What in tarnations is going on in this thread?

Millions of dollars went into the R&D of the OS, and while it is basically dead as far as being distributed with new phone models, it is probably a treasure trove of intellectual property. Even if it wasn't, giving away the OS opens the door for a new competitor in the mobile space.

And here is the thread where they brag about the forums they spammed. Oh look..both of these guys are calling us trolls.

Well you are kinda trolling his thread. :p

I be they don't want to release the old code as there's a good chance there'd be more people running their old OS (symbian) than their new OS (WP).:D

Kinda what I was thinking as well.. while it may be dead as a phone OS the tech in it could still be used elsewhere. It's always tricky when it's not a simple app.

dat illiteracy.

I thought they released a bunch of source for symbian just before elop rode in to destroy things. Although I don't think it was quite complete enough to build a complete image or so. I thought it was ^3, not just V5 or whatever.
