Lefty of the year award? Really?
Mother Teresa
Henry Kissinger
Aung San Suu Kyi
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders)
Dalai Lama
Desmond Tutu
Nelson Mandela
Yasser Arafat/Yitzhak Rabin/Shimon Peres
David Trimble
to name a few.
Does every topic have to be spin with you?
..
I went back and reviewed the list, and you are right, most clearly deserve recognition. The ones who don't (in my opinion) stick out foremost in my mind.
But - Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho? Concluded a "peace agreement" that every knew was a sham, allowing the communists to take the country and slaughter tens of thousands. Popular among lefties, but - peace?
Freakin' Yasser Arafat? Seriously, pausing between terrorist operations wins a prize?
Gorbachav? Man tries to liberalize Communism to compete with Reagan and the USA, has it fall around his ears, and wins the Peace Prize? If anyone one it should have been Yeltzin, for his courage in standing up to the Communist Party and its tanks.
Barack Obama? Seriously, serial apologizing for America wins the big PP?
Jimmy Carter? Anybody got an accomplishment for Carter? (Advocating that Jews should die doesn't count.) Carter's big talents are hating America, hating Jews, and promoting himself as a statesman whilst accepting every promise from any left-leaning (or just anti-American/anti-Jewish) thug even though everyone knows they have zero intention of abiding by them. Carter is the epitome of the useful idiot.
But again, you are right. I have let a handful of arguably bad choices color by perception of a group of people who are generally worthy of all praise. Since I've already eaten my words, I suppose I'll, um, eat a bug. (Not that hard on a motorcycle.)
