No way! The truth is out there X-Files reboot!

Fox’s new agenda is looking a lot like their old one. Confirming some prior reports, the network’s leadership says they are seriously chasing a reboot of The X-Files and are possibly interested in bringing back Prison Break too (along with yet another edition of 24 as well — but that’s another story).
On The X-Files front, Fox chairman and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman say they have been in talks with series creator Chris Carter about reviving the supernatural procedural, which was a major hit for the network from 1993 to 2002. The executives also revealed they hope to have original series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles on the show.

I just finished watching all the episodes on Netflix last year. I wonder if a reboot is possible? Will people still be hooked?

I'd watch it. I question whether Duchovny and Anderson will sign up for it in the long-term, though. I could see them having minor recurring roles or something, but they've both moved in the complete opposite direction of sci-fi, so it may not be their interest. If not X-Files, they should let Chris Carter pitch them something else.

Prison break, no thanks. 24, maybe.

Why do we need X-Files when we already have about 1000 alien shows on the History Channel?

Did they ever do a BluRay set of the original X-Files? Seems like a no-brainer tie in to release one with a reboot.

I loved X-files when it was on, but will it be viable now with shows like Grimm and Constantine? They seem to be getting good ratings so that's probably why Fox wants to bring it back.

Gillian Anderson was pushing pretty hard for some sort of an X-Files reboot earlier this week on the Nerdist podcast. It's beginning to make sense--the gears to get everything moving must have already started.

Cool! I've been watching the X-Files for the first time on Netfilx. I just started season 3 last night. It's just a shame that most of it is 4:3.

stupid idea. they had 7 good seasons out of 9 and all the writers have moved on. all they'd get is probably a dozen episodes of awkward shit.

Reboots and remakes usually never turn out well when it's rebooting a good show. They do however turn out well if the original sucked.

The Thing from outer space is a perfect example. The original was terrible, Carpenders was awesome and that 3rd thing was a trashbag.

Be ok if they reboot the X-files crossed with Red Shoes and Californication.

Chain smoking man FTW! (wait.. is the actor dead?)

I want the new x-files to investigate polar bears on a tropical island.

and while they are doing reboots, how about Firefly and Dollhouse?

edit:
in Californication, she gave up her ass for him. what season was that?

I loved the X Files. One of my all time favorite shows. I would probably give a reboot a shot, I really hope they don't. This constant state of reboots needs to stop. Even good things run their course. More is not necessarily better.

Yeah, agreed. They couldn't even make a second X-Files movie that wasn't completely awful. That makes me doubt they can make the tv series reboot work.
