The idea that Trump was lucid to me just shows how incredibly low the bar was placed for him.

Seriously, listening to Trump and trying to carry that thread, a potential line of thought, make the thing connect - hurt my brain... its like stretching stretching stretching, any moment now it'll circle back and make sense ... and it just never did.
Finally figured out that Trump himself didnt know what he was going to say next ... he would just output the next semi random connecting thought that popped into his head and gaslight forth.
He's a fucking idiot.

I caught some of it. Seems like the press conference devolved into a mess. He should have ended it and walked off, not given the fake news media any attention at all. Of course they asked about Hunter's laptop lol. Biden is not a great speaker, he sounds like an old man with a slight speech impediment, which is what he is. I think sticking to a script would serve him better than going off on tangents. I would not waste time comparing him to Trump or Obama, he is the way he is. His ideas are what matters, not how well he orates. Still, you can see how people think he's slightly off his rocker. He's still a much greater speaker than I'll ever be, my voice cracks and I hate public speaking.

The right is spending all of it’s time denigrating Biden over a speech because they have to have something other than the real news of trump and his minions being slowly brought to justice. Its weird that people try and defend Biden's speaking style or how he portrays himself. It really is tribalism all the way down with us humans isn't it? I voted for Biden, the second Dem in 5 elections I've actually voted for, not because he was really a solid Presidental candidate, but of the two options I had to choose from he was the least shitty option.
His presidency, while marginally more competent than his predecessor, is not shaping up to be a good one. Assign blame however you like, but that's what its looking like, and from the ant's eye view here it kinda sucks. Most presidents are incredibly mediocre, they're not all going to be Lincoln or FDR. Most people here can probably haphazardly name 10-15 Presidents off the top of their head if asked at random, the rest of them a forgotton memory to just keep moving the ball up to the next down.
Working with a hostile congess isn't making anything easier.
He's kept a lot of Trump policies firmly in place: Trade War with China is still on, Remain in Mexico is still on (although child separation isn't as bad), Jerusalem is still Israel's recognized capital, still having travel bans over Covid (remember how it was racist when Trump did it to China but somehow not racist when everyone did it to South Africa?)
Don't feel like you need to defend him just cause he's your guy. He was dealt a bad hand to begin with and he doesn't have the gumption to play that bad hand well (i.e Clinton after the '94 shellacking the Dems took).
His best quality by far, in my estimation, is that I forget he exists for long stretches of time and I can go on with my life without having half the people I know say he's a fucking moron while the other half say he's Jesus reborn in every conversation I have.

It's a combination of us 1) having absolutely zero patience for conservatives pretending to be concerned about issues that they are never concerned about when conservatives do the exact same thing or worse, and 2) not being fucking assholes and dunking on a guy who has made no secret of the fact that he has struggled with a stutter his entire life.

Yep. He's like a small child, you can lead him anywhere - and the right wing circle jerk squad usually did. The feedback loops we kept seeing with Fox Noise, ugh. Can't say I've ever seen any "leader" be so dumb, so open to suggestion, so easy to manipulate. Not even Dubya was that lost, that unaware. Trump just wanted to be on TV as much as possible, preferably with ass kissers. Though that vanity actually worked to the nation's favor in a way. I can't think of any other president where it was probably a good thing he was so severely allergic to his daily security briefs. Being an extraordinarily unintelligent coward and sociopath made Trump a real threat to those charged with defending this country, and their mission.

If someone never said a single thing about trumps speech habits but defended his policies adamantly and now makes threats about Biden’s speech habits, do you think calling that poster out on their hypocrisy is defending Biden or just pointing out their hypocrisy?
For a majority of people here, Biden was not their choice but we, like you, understood what was at stake. Most of these same people also understand the current state of politics and understand who is to blame. Again pointing out the reality of the situation is not defending Biden, it’s pointing out reality.
There is a reason why the federal government has not done much for us int he recent years. The first is that there is nothing very very very deferentially new that needs some laws to be put in place. When Clinton was president the internet just started becoming a big thing, thus the reason why DMCA was able to be passed with supportive votes even from the other side. When Boeing 707s brought air travel to the general public, did aviation laws from Nixon to Carter had support from both sides of the aisle.
As for the modern day of today, new things like crypto currency do not need that much of new laws, and smartphones are currently just fine when piggybacking on laws created for radio transmissions that were created way before cellphones were created.
What I mean to say is, America as a general without looking into any specific groups of people, is working just fine. It's only when you look at a specific group does one see problems. The issue of fixing those problems would be that the simple solution would just cause a problem for another group. The solution for the other groups problem would be the removal of the solution from the previous groups problem. This means to say that America really is in a state of equilibrium, of which the equilibrium is an unfair to all Americans. The solution would be to look for a solution such that an equilibrium of same calibration can be found, but that equilibrium is fair to all Americans.
If I were a senator, I would propose changing the tax laws such that the amount of taxable income is not based on your salary, but based off your 12 month average credit score. The fact is, majority of people who face financial hardships have bad credit scores, where as those with no financial problems have good credit scores. Yes, there are a few people who have low wages and high credit scores, but it raises the question as too why they then don't want to take out a loan. Then there are a middle class people who became victims of identity theft and have bad credit scores, and are in financial trouble, and under the current system have to pay same taxes. Then there are rich people whose buissness go bankrupt, and are now jobless. This ideology would lead to another equilibrium that would have the same output of where those who need financial help pay lower taxes and those that do not need financial help pay higher taxes, but the approach taken to this sort of equilibrium is different.
Both sides of the aisle just don't want to look for smart solutions like these, and are like a tape recorder of wanting the solution they see is currently working, but not looking for a solution that works in all situations.
