No soda? So then what?

yeah I know.. I'll make my wife read the labels when she shops 🙂 I do plan on drinking lots of water (as I am right this very minute) As far as beer goes, I just don't drink alcohol period (/me listens for collective *gasp* of ATOT) I'm sure I will cheat... I don't plan on cutting out soda 100%... just to cut back 80% and have some at parties, out a dinner, whatever.

If I drink one glass of soda, I am still thirsty afterwards. Yet, one cup of hot tea will quench my thirst. I will drink hot tea even on a hot day for this reason.

Reading the labels is something I have been doing for a few years now. It is soon realized that 90% of the "food" in the grocery store is inedible and is actually a poison for the human body. That remaining 10% ends up being one bag of chips among that whole aisle of chips but it tastes better than the other junk.

Just repeat the phrase, "These pretzels are making me thirsty." It helps.

And who knows - perhaps you'll even be cast as an extra in a Woody Allen film.

I drink coffee in the morning (1.5 cups) and then water throughout the day. If I am eating at a restaurant I have non-caffianted stuff like fruit punch or lemonade. (don't like ice-tea)

At home I drink tons of juice and water.

If you don't like water, try these products which can work as good stepping stones from soda to water.

http://www.kraftfoods.com/fruit2o/
And Nestle also has a product but I can't for the life of me find a webpage for it.

Once you get used to the tastes of a one of these drinks, it is a very small step to water. Especially if you get hooked on lemon flavored water.

Get the calorie and caffeine free fruit flavored carbonated water they sell at wal-mart, CVS, Dominicks, or Jewel. SO GOOD!

Dude hit up the juice section at the grocery store. That section is teh illx0rz, seriously. A lot of the time they have buy one get one free's so thats always nice. I recently quit drinking pop too, its been about 12 days w/o soda, so it's cool to know that there are other people out there who are doing the same. But I just suppliment myself with watere and juice. I always like the natural stuff a lot better than the fruit punch stuff that sucks. So yeah, juice is definitely the way to go.

FYI, Try not to get hooked on juice / diet soda as replacements for soda. Especially juice, as it is the biggest fake in the health world. People think they are healthy for drinking juice but it is mainly more empty sugar calories. Iced tea is another trick, unless you are drinking unsweatened iced tea, you are pretty much just drinking another soda. Although, Snapple does have a decent green tea that can be somewhat healthy if you cannot stomache unsweatened green tea (it is pretty nasty stuff).

Wow, thank you, I did not know that. I'm not being sarcastic either.

This may be impractical for you, but I will suggest real fruit smoothies. Made with, you guessed it, real fruit--not the kind based on ice cream or some mysterious sweetening concoction. Basically a blender + a heap of fruit + any number of other things (ice, frozen strawberries, water, etc.) to thin/chill the drink and possibly sweeten it a little. Even with a little sweetening agent (sugar, honey, juice, sweetened yogurt, etc), surely it's still an improvement over glorified sugar water (soft drinks, cool aid, etc.) or just plain juice (fruit sugars without the fiber). Experiment with a blender! 🙂
