there is no PCI lock on my mobo so if i go with regular ribbon cables and try to OC my processor to 2.6. or 2.7 will that outwigh the loss of using SATA?
So, your motherboard should have a pci lock. It's not neccesarily in the BIOS. It should just be locked. My mobo for a FACT doesn't have the S-ATA ports 1 and 2 locked, but the other 2 are locked, so I use them. I know from reading this: S939 Mobo guide
If it is true that your motherboard doesn't have a PCI lock, then you won't be able to overclock at all. Not with S-ATA drives, or P-ATA, because any expansion cards you install would be oc'd as well, and ANYTHING else on the PCI bus (onboard LAN, audio, some video, etc).
I'm done. I'm just gonna be happy with 2.5MHz. This combo should last me a year or so, when i'll totally overhaul everything(Mobo, processor, and videocard).
