No more Popups

I am still experiencing the popup ads,allthough yes i find them a minor inconvenience,

they are eradicated with a simple mouse click.
 
this is the 1st time i see those pop-up's..... haven't seen them at work. i thought some culprit program install itself in my laptop.... or even worse.... new kind of virus started spreading itself.

 
Trouble with the pop-ups: in addition to the annoyance factor people soon have their fill of them and begin using ad/pop-up blockers. This hurts site's ad revenues. The site is flagged in folk's mind as "annoying" and even if they stay they block ads in the future.
 
umm... why did the most esteemed Anand allow popups into the webpage in the first place, Is it just me or do you either need to do soemthing illegal (ie, hack the page) or ask for permission before getting your pop-ups put on someones page.
 
I got two (2) different popups. It seems like that blue ad with wrist watch in it with text "Timing is everything...so make" (etc. I am not going to quote all of it) is one of culprits.

Opps. I just got the third popup. Visa. 😛

Amerix ad is definitely second culprit.

Hmm... On the second thought popups and ads doesn't always seem to be connected. The popups seem to be always visa ads. Blue and white with orange "circle". *sigh*

Just got a new one. "Next Card". Does this never end? Popups come by two's...

I've found if I refuse all cookies, I get no popups. I usually refuse cookies anyhow (Anand, your ads LOVE to deposit hoards of cookies on peoples drives), so I never got any popups to begin with. I was wondering why so many people were getting them, and I wasn't ... so I accepted a few cookies and voila, I got popups when navigating this site.

Just a guess, but I think those people who aren't getting popups either decline cookies, or have them turned off altogether

Ah, so that's why I don't get those pop-ups... I've set Mozilla to refuse all cookies that do not come from the originating web site (server). Same for images, so I 'miss' many of the 'normal' adds as well 😛
 
They really suck when you have a dial-up connection AND they come up every time you click back and forth to a new page - SUCK!

I was outta here if they stayed, I don't need to deal with that crapola.

I have never got a popup ad while surfing on anandtech daily for the past years. Dont know what everyone is complaining about.😀
 
Um... complaining? Excuse me! Last night was a OUT RAGE! If you were on last night, you would have gone MADDDDD.
