And the de-pussification of America continues.

Also, funny how they always deemed themselves as tasteful art, yet are admitting they are in competition with online porn.

Anyway, magazines are near death. So, might as well turn cheesecake like Maxim and tap into another market / segment.

Fixed that for truth.

Eh, if anything the abundance of pussy has been the cause. Online porn, smart phones, sexting, HBO, ect have all made it very easy to find pictures/videos of naked women.

At one time your option was strip clubs, nasty adult video shops with videos in brown bags...or mail order stuff like Playboy that was much more discrete.

Now within 10 seconds I can have piles of porn at my fingertips while on the shitter at work if I want it.

Playboy can't compete with that. Especially when it costs them money to produce and people simply aren't paying for it.

They've been a "lifestyle brand" for a long time now more than they have been a magazine. They'll be okay. Besides, notice it said "fully nude" which means we're probably still talking topless and/or bottomless on occasion.

Playboy has been evolving into something of a hybrid between Maxim and Vanity Fair over the last few years anyway. So it's a fairly logical direction to go in. Their editor is 100% right. When was the last time you saw anybody buy a dirty magazine. I'm surprised they still exist at all. Plastic, photoshopped girls aren't exactly titillating anymore. Not when there's an endless supply of free filth to satisfy every perversion imaginable.

From the few times I've run across their articles, they do seem quite well written. At least compared to a lot of the trash online.

I'm wondering what your idea of Real Ultimate Masculinity (tm) involves.

Shorty must be a god among men.

I think that it's a publicity stunt, Ah La New Coke:

1) Post a final "collectors edition" issue of Playboy with nudity. It will probably sell better than most issues do.
2) Post an issue of Playboy without nudity, nobody buys it except for some angry feminists and social justice warriors.
3) Announce that you're bringing back nudity. The next issue sells extra copies thanks to the extra press. Maybe they'll even get a few new subscriptions.

But, seriously, the magazine is doomed either way. Nobody pays for this stuff anymore.

So Photoshop Monthly has ended their relationship with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons?

There hasn't been a nude picture of a woman in that magazine for ages.

Hahahaha I just saw a quick poll on the news. The question was "Do you think the internet killed Playboy"

77% of men said yes
26% of women said yes

Funny how the sexes view Playboy differently. As mentioned earlier I doubt any young woman had to barter with a friend to get a Playboy when they were young.

I've seen some pretty good celebrity interviews from them. I doubt any of their current subscribers keep their subscription because it's the best way for them to see naked women. If they're going to survive (and I consider that a long shot) then they'll have to survive based on their non-nude content. This seems like a really good way to highlight the existence of that content while cutting costs.

I have a hard time believing that 74% of women are that delusional. The Internet is killing newspaper and magazine subscriptions across the board, from the New York Times to Newsweek... but a magazine that's most famous for naked ladies loses its audience and, "No, this couldn't possibly be related to the Internet, that medium so dedicated to free pornography that virtually any search term will return nudie pics!" Get outta here....

I always liked the centerfold. I have a nice looking Miss October (can't remember the year) that hung above the bookshelf in my bedroom, but the damn thing fell down behind the bookshelf and taking out all those books and moving the shelf is a PITA, so it remains there after four years.

You raise an interesting point JC -- the centerfold. I was in the USAF in the late 70's early 80's and there was hardly a dorm room without a centerfold taped up somewhere in the room. I had February 78 Janis Schmidt taped inside my locker. Oh the memories...

Playboy has always had better writers, and actual journalism. Their interviews have always been held in high regard.

Maxim has always been 100% stupid. Funny at times, but always stupid.
