No longer Hot. Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 - now $44 AR

Deal now mostly dead. Best Buy raised price to $55, so new AR price is $44.

Best Buy is currently carrying this keyboard for $35 (which is a great deal by itself). Circuit City has the same keyboard for $64.99 (the website has a sale of $58.49 but my local B&M had it for $64.99). Pricematch to Best Buy to get a 110% of the difference
$64.99 - $33 = $31.99

Microsoft has a $10 rebate for this keyboard good until 3/25/2006. However, the rebate does not apply to Best Buy (and some other stores) but does apply to Circuit City. Here's Microsoft's version of the rebate (from buy.com) and Circuit City's version.

When I bought this in store, the rebate did not print out and the salesperson was not aware of it so I had no trouble price matching. I would suspect even if they are aware of the rebate, you can make the case that you don't want to deal with the rebate and want them to just price match the Best Buy price. Either way, you can always print it out from the website.

So total comes out to:
$64.99 - $33 PM - $10 Rebate = $21.99

Good deal if you can get away with it...

I would suspect even if they are aware of the rebate, you can make the case that you don't want to deal with the rebate and want them to just price match the Best Buy price.

You are wrong there in my area... Usually you have to find somebody who doesn't care to get away with it. They will go see the manager (if they don't know what to do), and then they will say we can only price match after the rebate price, not to the original. Thus, they will pricematch your ergonomic keyboard to ~$43, and then you send in the $10 MIR.

I guess it will vary by store, but in my store they didn't even have the price tag on this keyboard, much less the rebate info. So, I think there's a good chance that other stores will not have the rebate shown either. Plus, since it didn't print out at the register and the sale price didn't come out either, maybe the sale price and rebate are only promoted through the online store. Definitely worth a try since even at $35 it is a good deal for this keyboard.

I've just upgraded from my 6 year old Natural Pro, and although I've been reluctant to upgrade since I got that keyboard because none of the new products seemed to match it, I actually like this one. It gives you all the full sized keys (even the Insert/Home/Page Up/etc. keys) and all the keys are much softer than my old Natural Pro. Plus the reverse slope does relieve some pressure from the wrists. Very nice keyboard overall.

When you do price match, it should be out of door price, they should not count the $10 rebate in.

This can be done at Staples also and a $10 rebate prints at the register. Its a really nice keyboard.

That's not right.......is that policy at Staples, or just a manager being difficult?

They priced matched the full $65 for me and then the cashier was surprised when the $10 rebate printed. I also did it Monday morning so they might not have realized the rebate existed then.

Excellent! scored one at Staples this afternoon - $33 after tax/pricematch and they gave me the $10 rebate form no questions.... so final price: $22 AR!

Thanks OP!

this was similar to what compusa had earlier this year. They had an instant, a MS MIR and a compusa MIR.

I have one at the office, and one at home (from amazon back from last september).

OOS at Staples, CC and BB B&M in Manhattan

Edit: called CC's 800 number, they won't price match because the keyboard is "backordered" on BB.com

anyone have an extra they'd like to pass onto a poor soul who had wrist surgery?

Edit 2: found the OEM version for 33.99 at 3btech never heard of the merchant before, but I ordered it anyway since the merchant reviews on amazon.com are relatively good Text

Choose Store Pickup and it may show some BB stores with stock. Take that list to local CC to pricematch. Price is down to $59.98 at Staples.com but out of stock now.

Got mine. Some weirdness in the rebates though. The MS rebate website doesn't recognize the SKU. Plus, the paper rebate requires that you submit the UPC and the keyboard boxtop! Must be generic language designed for a software box because that it one big box. (For that matter, which side is the boxtop?)

Just bought it from BB, considering there isn't a CC around here for miles. Still a great price though at $37 and change.

I purchased this keyboard today at Circuit City in College Point, NY, and was easily able to pricematch Best Buy. I just brought in a printout of my Best Buy cart, showing the item in stock with in-store pickup at several locations.

This is by far the best, most comfortable, quietest keyboard I've ever used. Definitely worth every penny of that $21.99.

This keyboard is GREAT! Finally a worthy successor to the original natural keyboards. All the ones in last 5 or 8 years have been crap, screwed up arrow keys, screwed up home block, screwed up period.

I have a ton of info about it in a previous hot deal thread about this same keyboard:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=40&threadid=1793675&enterthread=y

Including info on how to change the little slider switch to a scroll instead of useless zoom, and all sorts of other good stuffs, troubleshooting tips if you run into things like the volume buttons not working.

So if you guys have any questions about this keyboard, most should be answered there.

I HIGHLY reccomend this if you like the split/ergonomic kind of keyboard. Even if you dont think you will, try it for a week and see, you might very well find yourself loving it.

Got mine at Office Depot. Price match...$38 out-the-door plus $10 rebate from MSFT, bringing final cost to $28. Did not load the software CD. Anyone know about the warranty on this keyboard. Don't see any info on/in the box.

TIA

I did the same OD price match, plus they printed up a rebate for $10 and handed it to me without batting an eye.

I was considering buying this at BB when I saw the ad last sunday... Thanks to the OP for saving me an extra $10!

I haven't opened it yet... I am sitting in a coffee shop trying to get some stuff done, but keep coming back to these forums instead... :|

I've read that this keyboard has a two-year warranty. Although, Microsoft has always been really super great in replacing things well out of warranty... at least for me. Otherwise, there's no real information contained in the box, just a getting started guide and the CD drivers.

Here's the warranty information listed at Zip Zoom Fly:

Submit this completed coupon and qualifying proofs of purchase from each qualifying Microsoft Mouse or
Microsoft Keyboard product you purchased. Eligible proof of purchase is the original product box top with the
product name and barcode and part number clearly identified from the product.

What does that mean? Do I have to cut out the UPC from the box?

This keyboard was sold out at BestBuy, CircuitCity, and OfficeDepot in Seattle area so I took the pricetag from BestBuy and went to Staples. I picked up the very last unit and they price matched it right away and printed me the $10 rebate form too. However, they only gave me 100% pricematch price instead of 110%... A little weird, but I didn't want to argue and I just walked out.

Natural Ergo Keybo - $64.98
100% Price Guarantee - $29.99
Reason 12
Form of Proof - 01
Subtotal - $34.99
Standard Tax 8.90% - $3.11
Total - $38.10

Good deal. I'd call the 800 number on Monday for clarification. I'm sure the $10 rebate is good. Just make sure you send in the correct proof of purchase. While you're on the phone, please find out about the warranty on this keyboard.

TIA
