Wow, it's going to be wet in South Carolina this weekend. Very wet. Unprecedented rainfall wet. Some of the weather models are predicting as many as 20 inches of rain. TWENTY! Imagine every place within 2 miles of you got 20 inches of rain - where does all that water go. That's one heck of a puddle.

Not all of the models show that much rain. Some only show a foot of rain. Or 9" of rain. To put that in perspective, Sandy brought 8" of rain, Katrina brought 8-12 inches of rain.

This is going to be a major weather event; I'm surprised I haven't seen much coverage.

Here in the Midwest (Kansas) we have not had rain in about 2 weeks. Not even a small shower. You guys are hogging all the rain.

If you think that is bad I will need to turn my heat on Sat. morning. It will be the first time since last spring :(

Keep dry.

It has been freaky wet here. It has been raining at our place all week long, but mostly light rains until now. For the past 3 hours it has been coming down pretty heavily with a lot of wind.

The area I live in western NC had just been updated to "moderate drought" status, and some nearby counties to "severe". This came out about the time it started raining last week.

In the 10 days since the report was made, we have had 8" of rain, with 3 or 4 predicted today and tomorrow.

Yeah, looks pretty bad. Speaking of SC, anyone seen/heard from highland recently? I hope he's secured his mustard stocks.

Been wondering where he was. Did he get an AT vacation?

doesn't look like it--but his profile page also doesn't show "last activity." At least, I can't see it.

Did highland and KT walk off into the sunset together without telling us? :(

I haven't seen a PM from him in a while. He would occasionally send a "what's up" every once and awhile.

It's a very good thing that Joaquin did not come up near the coast.

If it had followed after the massive rain we already had...

I sent him a PM about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything. We could always give his business a call to find out whats going on

Egads! 24" of rain, in one day. 35mph winds today - with the ground that saturated, that's going to bring down a lot of trees onto power lines.

I want to see some river height stats.

I'm assuming they're above flood stage, but by how much?

On the good side, it's probably not mosquito season.

Or is it always mosquito season in the south?

Here's a fun fact: to rain 1" over 1 square mile takes more than 17 MILLION gallons of water.

How many gallons do you think fell on South Carolina in the last 48 hours?

based off of that, ~32000 sq mile in sc, lets say average thoughtout the state was 10" then that'd be 5.4 trillion gallons, it takes 8.5 to fill lake mead. lake mead is screwed.

Costco was PACKED with people buying crap, preparing for the hurricane. It was a zoo. And the next day, the sun was shining in NYC.
