I'm just glad to see the hard work and dedication politicians are putting forth.

It's nice to see that I am getting a worthwhile return of my money from these walking pieces of crap.

ACLU will have this one tossed out by Monday afternoon... assuming the person who proposed it isn't removed from their position on Monday morning.

I'm all about promiting healthy lifestyles, but you can't force people to take care of themselves and you can't pin obesity on restaurants like this.

MAYBE... just MAYBE instead of pointing the finger at restaurants you could make it a requirement that people pass a bi-annual obesity check in order to receive Medicare, with the option of receiving professional fitness help if you are over to continue it.

Had to say ACLU didn't you?

Better go with the sprout sub combo....

Vote. Register for your state's primary. It's your only recourse. Well, you could write your congressman.

Proposed.

It would never pass. No one could possibly gain from this except for the fat people.

If it did some how get past the supreme court, I would have serious reservations about living in this country.

I don't believe it.

If, by some wild fluke, this is legit and becomes law, the Supreme Court will kill it when it gets challenged.

Under what? The Commerce Clause?

Where's the proposal to stop selling cigarettes to smokers?

Don't they cost "us" alot of money too?

Haha. The state governments and federal government make far too much money on cigarette taxes to ever do that. They make so much money off of those taxes that a lot of money funds completely unrelated projects.

Cigarettes certainly should be outlawed. From an ex-smoker of 12 years, who now has a kid.

At least they will be easy to spot. Can?t the restaurant just make the entrance narrow; perhaps even make it if their gut touches each side of the doorway it can set off a buzzer like in the game operation.

I commend the spirit of the bill (keeping the drug away from the addict) but it will never pass. Nothing will be done about this problem until A) private insurance companies plainly deny coverage to obese people and B) the cost of the obese to John Q. Taxpayer becomes so high that no one can afford to treat the obese.

Newsflash: outlawing cigarettes won't stop people from smoking them. In fact, it'll probably make smoking cool again, just in time for your kid to start.

There are some problems with your idea, including the possible gap between obesity "as defined by the state" and obesity which may rise to the level of a disability under the ADA. Hence it could be only partially invalidated if at all. In addition, there is no guarantee that the Supreme Court would grant cert.

 Some pretty piss-poor logic abound on these forums, often in form of the overbroad generality. You have made a logic 101 sort of error here, intimating that I'm wrong that outlawing cigarettes would stop (many, most or all) people from smoking them. You are a mite retarded if you think that as many people smoke pot today as would if it were legal.

Just like Prohibition stopped people from drinking! Yeah!

Interesting. I know that fat people cost America a lot in health insurance, fuel costs, bigger seats, and other commodities, but this is ridiculous. Of course, its obvious this bill will get nowhere.

Interesting reply. So gays don't cost extra$$$. AIDs is real. It cost tax payers money .

Like I said the real war . the final one . Will be about food. But to get their first we.

Stop fat people from eating in public. LOL! In some states its illeagal to smoke in public because of known health problems yet I can BUY cigs. LOL!

Next should be law saying anyone over 50 gets put to sleep because of health cost and the burden placed on its citizen because our SS money was miss used .
