Yeah I was reading that work around on DroidCentral. It's just like I said earlier...Moto can't do camera software right. Very annoying.

I'm also running into some sensitivity issues with the screen and the capacitive keys. About a 1/3 of the time it takes me two swipes to get the pull down for the unlock to work. Don't have this problem at all on my MotoX. Not sure if it's the phone or the fact that the screen is so much bigger and there's just more physical carry required.

For the capacitive keys, I've had at least a dozen times where the back key just stops accepting any input and doesn't respond to taps. I have to hit the wakeup hard key to knock it back to the lock screen and come back. The home key won't work either in those situations.

My one day reaction so far is good hardware build, but some quirks and annoyances on the software side.

The more I use the Turbo the more I miss my little Moto X.

I went iPhone4 --> Galaxy Note 2 --> Moto X -->

So I've sort of covered all ranges of phone size. It was a huge change (literally) going from the ip4 to the Note 2. Then again from the note to the Moto X. I'm struggling with the Turbo. It's just wide enough to convince you to try using it one handed. Then the weight comes into play and starts to slip. Plus the bottom part of the phones come to a very thing, almost knife like edge on corners that really cut into my palm after extended times holding it. Then there's the matter of the comfort when talking. The way they made the top speaker, the top lip of the phone is actually raised up from the rest of it and I can feel that dragging across my ear if I need to re-position the phone while conversing.

I love the screen. The battery life and the fast response of the device. Also like the Qi charging functionality. Going back to the Moto X and it looks washed out and feels really slow. But I just like using it more.

I'll give the turbo a few more days to decide.

Another update on the battery life of this thing...

It is damn impressive. I've been putting it on a Qi charger on my nightstand before going to bed at around 10:30 or 11:00PM. I take it off the charger at around 6:00AM once I get out of the shower and head downstairs.

Typical day is 3 hours of screen time, 1 hour of calls, 30 text messages and in areas with pretty rough coverage, if any coverage at some times. Plus a few hours of streaming music over wifi. I've got three different mail accounts, one of them being exchange push sync.

I'm off the charger for an average of 16 hours and putting it back on the charger before bed with about 50% battery left. Worst day was a little under 40%, today I'm at almost 60%. My MotoX would be gasping for air by 5:00PM most days under those conditions.

I haven't had to use the turbo charger other than test it out since owning it.

For some of the quirks I have with it...the lack of battery anxiety is hard to give up.

GSAM or whatever the cool kids battery app I downloaded says I average 5 hours screen time in the average of 33hrs from a full charge. Mostly on wifi at a desk all day but it's still pretty stout. I got a few gripes about the phone but the battery isn't one, and imo the battery is the most important thing off the bat.

I'm teetering on the edge of getting this phone since it's taking Verizon so dang long to announce when they'll have the Nexus 6 available for purchase. As long as it's taking them I have to wonder if they may simply not carry it so the only way to get it would be to pay full retail price. How heavy is the Verizon cruft on this phone? I figure it might be a while, if ever, before this phone gets unlocked so that crap can be removed so I'd like to deal with the least amount possible.

There's about 10 VZ apps or so. Many of them can't be outright deleted, but they can at least be disabled. It's not something that I'd let dissuade you.

The initial reviews on the Nexus6 battery life aren't that confidence inspiring. Seems to chew through battery life with screen use.

Not bad imo, most of it you can disable, it looks about like stock android, which is to say it's clean but missing some stuff. Like a rotation lock in the pulldown.
WTF, really? That's like the only thing Samsung does right with touchwiz.
If anything the Moto stuff is way more apparent than vzw stuff, some if it's even kinda cool and useful. Some of it.

But it's not bad really, I think vzw practiced a lot of restraint on this one, the ballistic nylon one even lacks the logo on the back if that matters to you.

Are you tied to VZ?

Based upon the folks reception in my area it's either Verizon or T-Mobile, I've considered T-Mobile but I'm not sure if I'd save much, if anything. I do get an employer discount with Verizon (I also get it with AT&T as well as Sprint but not T-Mobile).

Yeah I'm tied to Verizon. GSM carriers in the rural Midwest are horrible. I do too much traveling on weekends to have my cell useless to me. I'm on the $50 loyalty plan. Unlimited text and messaging, 1 gig of data and can still get full subsidy phones. If I want new devices every two years the math just isn't there on a pre-paid plan with no subsidy.

What I would have liked is if this phone also had an option for a regular HD display at around 1080p and a slower cpu at about 2.0 ghz to get more battery life out of the larger battery they put in the phone.

I'm willing to bet there exists a market who want a more battery life and are a bit disappointed that after a larger battery was used they added in components that eat into some of that extra battery capacity.

Other than that it does look like a fine phone for those who can notice a definite difference between 4x HD and regular HD and would be bothered by it and want/need a very fast CPU.

Yeah it's got a few niggles but it's a pretty good phone, fast, huge battery, etc.
Maybe since it's just VZW, I don't think it's fashionable to be with them now.

It's too bad the Moto maxx is next to impossible to get in the US.

Yeah I know right.. Motorola has a phone that alot of people want but cant get because A) its tied to verizon if your in the US and B) the international version is just so rare and hard to buy..

I did hear that they could release one for the other network providers though take it with a grain of salt.
