bumping for any other comments because I'm considering buying one.

Also, anyone know when the 2006's are coming out?
The sales guy said probably March or April 2006, which doesn't make any sense. I thought pretty much all new models came out towards the end of the previous year.
Plus, the guy was obviously lying about a bunch of things, so I tend not to believe him.

05 Pathfinder = Never liked the Xterras in comparison. SE models between the 2 trucks are only $1k difference from what I can see.

I ended up buying one. My wife and I love it. I think overall it is an excellent vehicle.

Did you compare it to the pathfinders when you were looking?
If so, why did you pick the xterra?

My mom has one, she bought it new... I think it's a 02 or 03. It's nice, she hasn't had a single problem with it so far. My mom bought it over the pathfinder because she didn't like leather. I've driven it once, I hate how it drives, I'm pretty sure it's a drive by wire... the accelerator sucks... period.

Better price and better gas mileage. I just thought overall the xterra was a better value. Plus, size wise the Pathfinder is not that much bigger. It is only like 10" longer.

I had a friend that had one of the first models.... it was good... but after a while it just started to fall apart..... but then again, I had this feeling it was made cheaply from the very beginning. If your looking for budget suv, go for it... but if you want something nicer then id look at something else.

I have been thinking about perhaps getting a new '06 Xterra as well.

Do the Xterras have an option for leather and a moon/sun roof?

The reason I'd be considering the pathfinder is the option for third row seating. But from what I can see, the 4x2 pathfinders aren't much more than the Xterra's, but the 4x4's are quite a bit more. I've been driving a minivan for so many years that I want to get a fun vehicle this time. And I much prefer SUV's to cars.

2000 SE 4x4 Silver Ice gets about 16mpg - 130K miles

It can pull a 24' Bayliner Ciera click for pic but the sucker drops to about 8mpg when doing so... but then it is getting pretty close to the 5000lb towing limit.
