The wheel seems a bit overkill... why not just turn the controller on it's side and use it like that as a steering wheel.

Wow, you saw an advertisement for a hyped product.
This thing doesn't look very 'revolutionary' to me. Sure, for some games it could be fun to use it, but overall I don't see it revolutionizing video games.
Going from a stick to free movement.
How can you not call that a revolution?

The biggest problem I have is that the video they're showing there has nothing to do with actual functionality... it's a 100% concept video. Now, will this controller actually be able to track with accuracy wild movements like the ones shown? I have serious doubts about that.
.One thing that is intriguing me though, is that there is a rumor floating around that the system will be $99 at launch. that's a good rumor and for $99, I'll buy it even if I dont play it much

Jzero: it's not based on gyros though. According to 1up, it's based on similar technology that they started with the powerglove... sensors that you have to setup on your TV to determine the orientation of the device to the television...
at least that sounds like it has nothing to do with gyroscopes.

If not gyroscopes I don't know what it could be. According to the various reports, you can tilt it up/down/left/right/backward/forward and it is aware of those movements. What else could do that besides a gyroscope?

Nintendo has yet to show any sign they are planning to appeal to adult gamers again. There are what, like 4 titles on the Gamecube that aren't for kids or on every other system too? Also, they will not support HDTV. Microsoft has Xbox Live and 720p on everything. The PS3 doubles as a Blu-ray player.
Lack of games, inferior technology.
The controller may be good, or it may not. That is irrelevant. If its good, Microsoft and Sony will copy it immediately. It's not like the technology behind it is particularily revolutionary.
And Nintendo will lose, again.

This reminds me of that power glove commercial where the kid was playing Punch-out.
I'm skeptical, but curious.
Well, I sure hope that works out for them, because it didn't this generation.they are keeping their system very simple minded. i can guarantee you that the (promised by nintendo) $200 or less price tag will make the Revolution go into many MANY more homes than the PS3 come xmas time.

Personally, I'm tired of overcomplicated 30-button controllers. I the apparent return to simplicity, coupled with the price tag, is very appealing to me.

Finally, yes, nintendo's back catalog will be available but it will not be free.

This could very well be the #1 FPS device for consoles, but I just dont see how the rest of that stuff is going to work in the way they're displaying it.

Oh come off it. Sony and Microsoft, while introducing interesting new machines, are just doing the same damn thing that's been done for the last 10 years in gaming. This is something DIFFERENT, and I for one welcome something innovative to the market. It's clear that neither Sony nor Microsoft want to do anything innovative this time around, and say what you will about their HDTV support, but the *fact* is that while they're targeting maybe 10-15% of the market (HDTV's have yet to catch on for the mainstream consumer) Nintendo is targeting 100% of the market. It's entirely possible that the whole HDTV-centric advertising of both MS and Sony could blow up in their faces. With regard to specs, Rev's aren't even *released* yet, so you have no IDEA what they're going to be. And as any REAL gamer will tell you, it takes more than specs to make great games.
And please, don't be idiotic. If the Rev controller takes off, MS and Sony *can't* copy it immediately because they've already cast their lot with a standard controller that's only marginally different from current controllers. For developer support to catch on the controller has to be the *standard* controller for the system.
There is PLENTY of room in this market for 3 players, and in the end I expect to own all three systems. That said, the one I'm *most* anticipating right now is Revolution, because for the first time in a *decade* someone's offering something DIFFERENT.

I see where you are coming from, but I have a question for ya ...
do you have a problem with Sony's MGS4, Killzone 2, or Fight Night Round 3 videos, since they are just concept videos as well?

I know this isn't directed at me but, I for one am very disappointed in Sony again trying to push CGI/concept videos off as actual game play. They keep touting a Spring 2006 release but have yet to show a single playable game and have announced that their big event in Japan won't have any playable games either. This may be them not wanting to hurt their holiday sales for the PS2 and PSP but still.
Nintendo is saying Spring 2006 for the Revolution as well and haven't shown off any playable games.
