I bought one so did all my friends when they came out.. it lasted less than 5 months before it went back to EB the games were horrible and nothing came out..

I think you'd be fighting an uphill battle if you're trying to insinuate that the PSP and its gaming library is superior to the DS.

Like.. 89.5° uphill.

yah I may lose that battle but i won the analog/4 port war... 1982 trumps every other game company as they didnt even exist yet..

Actually, I think Nintendo was founded in 1889. But keep trying! :D

1889?

No kidding... I have both systems, and despite the gorgeous screen on the PSP, I've had lots more fun with the DS. Kirby Canvas Curse (yeah, I know "kiddie") was loads of fun, it was nice to play through a game with a different control scheme, and clever level design.
I still haven't played a PSP game that's worth it's asking price.

You are being sucked into MS and Sony's HD hype if you think that we are in the HD generation. If that's the case, then how come only like 10% of TV's out in people's homes are HD?

Sure the 360 controller is good, but you haven't even put your hands on the rev one. Do you not realize that every piece of video game revolution has been because of new improvements that nintendo made to the industry? WHo made the first gamepad? Who put the first analog stick on their controller? who put the first 4 player built into the console? who made the first first-party wireless controller? who made the first hand held system?

and then what does sony and/or ms do? they follow them and put analogs on their controlllers, build 4 controller ports into their system, create first-party wireless controllers to become standard with the system.

it's true that Sony and MS are not revolutionizing anything in the industry and are just giving us more of the same with prettier graphics and better physics, no actual new gameplay has been shown on any type of games displayed for the PS3 or 360. you can bet your ass that when the rev does well, the next sony or MS machine that comes out will have a new type of controller in it with a motion sensor/gyroscope type thingie.

and if you think graphics make the system and need to be "up to the current highest technology" and that the controller for the rev is nothing more than a gimmick, then please explain to me why the DS is doing 100x better than the PSP?

Um care to back up those stats? the DS is a total failure here in the US.. everyone I knwo that had one at launch got rid of it becasue the games were horrible and the system was basically a rehashed gameboy..
the PSP is doing lightyears of sales ahead of the other consoles...

by the way your timelines are a little off.. Nintendo did not invent any of the things you mentioned.
Atari was first for analog before anyone ever thought about doing it..

it's very close in the US but in Japan the DS is whopping the crap out of the PSP.

Also show me where Atari brought the first analog stick to become a standard for a console.

Also nintendo brought the whole controller rumble feature and L/R buttons which are now standard on consoles as well.

http://www.atarihq.com/danb/a5200.shtml

Atari 5200 years before the other systems.. note this little nugget of wisdom..
Ports: 2 (4 on some models) joystick ports for analog stick and keypad, Cartridge port, Expansion port

so youre wrong on several things.. Atari was the first for Analog as well as 4 ports..

as for the PSP VS the DS.. what those sales do not show is people that bought them and returned or ebayed or otherwise sold thier DS becasue the games blew so hard...

atari dominated and trail blazed all video games

okay I guess I should have said Nintendo is the one that made all of those things the new standard. Atari didn't make them standard by any means.

what does 1889 have to do with the 5200 coming out in 1982? Nintendo made playing cards back then... that doesnt have anything to do with what I posted..

i posted a year when Analog controllers and 4 port video game systems debuted.

You're very close minded. Sure the last nintendo consoles haven't been the best (but I thoroughly enjoyed windwaker, RE4, metroid prime, eternal darkness, rogue squadron (main reason I got a GC when it first came out). Also 4 player in Mario Party w/ friends are good times. Hmmm now that I think about it I may have had the most fun with the GameCube. Anyways, I'm going to wait for the console to come out & actually play it before I judge it.

Ok, so Nintendo copied from Atari, then other console makers also suddenly remembered about Atari as well right after the Nintendo consoles were released. Gotcha.

I mean, if this thing craps out, are they finished?

They're sales are lower, but they're the only game console company pulling a profit on each console sale. Sony and Microsoft lose money on console sales, revenue wise it might be smaller for nintendo, but profit wise, they're making way more profit.

I had one of these systems... IIRC you could not play 4 players in any game, 2 of the plugs were for paddles and 2 were for joysticks, so you didnt have to change plugs.

Edit: Actually i might be wrong... i think i played combat with more than 2 players... hell i cant recall lol... too long ago.

That's great but:
1) Nobody was debating any of those things
2) Nintendo is still around, those companies are not (you know what I mean)

I found evidence I was correct and posted it..

why dont you go take a look.. beleive it or not Nintendo did not start the vid game world.. Atari did in 1976 with pong... then to the 2600 whihc nintendo even got thier feet wet by producing 2 titles...
this was years and years before Nintendo or Sega or Sony or anyone else had a system out..
then came Colecovison and Intellavison still long before the others...
Nintedo and Sony and MS are all newbies in this indusrty.. they all took thier cues from Atari..
That's great but:
1) Nobody was debating any of those things
2) Nintendo is still around, those companies are not (you know what I mean)

loup you missed about half a page of reading.. yes we were debating all that...
fanboys up above were saying that nintendo invented all those things and did them before anyone else..

I found evidence I was correct and posted it..
and shut them up..

Yes and I corrected my earlier statements by saying I should have said Nintendo has set the standard for all of those things I mentioned. I am not arguing with you about what came first ... yes I know all of that crap you are talking about. I even had the Commodore 64 as well (not mentioned on your list) before I had a Nintendo.

What I'm saying is that Nintendo has set so many standards in the video gaming industry, and that once MS and Sony see how well the rev does (if it does well and I think it has huge potential) that we will see MS and Sony both come out with a controller similar to the Rev's come next time around.

edit: and calling me a fanboy (of any console) is about as far off as you can get ...

again ...

okay I'll take RaginBITCH's advice and stop wasting my time with this guy.

you also didn't prove crap other than atari had the first analog and 4 port console, which I later said that I meant to say how nintendo set the standard rather than being the first to invent it ...

but as I said, I'm done wasting my time on you.
