I love Nintendo, but the N64 controller sucked ass. The analog stick was great, but wtf why put it on top of the big controller penis? keyboard+mouse really is the best way to control an FPS. I wonder why they haven't done it on consoles yet? SNES even had a mouse.

Someone asked if the thing was a rhombus. To answer that:

A rhombus is a quadrilateral with adjacent sides equal.

This is merely a quadrilateral. (4 sided polygon)

Too hard to use a KB and mouse from your couch, and the learning curve is waaaay to high for the average console gamer. The whole point of the new controller is that it is supposedly intuitive from the start - you don't have to know what button to press, the motion and way you control it should be obvious.

Its been said before, but the possibilites for the rev controller will be endless. The shells for the games can be very cheap - a wheel, gun etc wont even require electronics - they can merely be plastic shells that the controller attaches to.

Just thinking about F-zero Wii with natural controls makes me never want to touch a regular controller again.

My only concern about the rev controller - how the hell are you going to shift your body around without having your character fly all over the place? Hopefully theres an easy to reach hold switch or button somewhere.

Isnt just saying rectangle or square, with a base that props it up much easier? :p

That's excatly what Nintendo has done with the revolution. Make a mouse that actually works while sitting on your couch.

I you're going to be playing your SNES hunched over a desk or coffea table anyway, you might as well be playing on a pc.

Yeah, I'm sure the retards in marketing said to themselves "hey, let's give it the worst name in the history of video games (er.... close tie with VirtualBoy) so people on Internet forums will talk about how BAD the name is and then they'll buy our system!" No. I think Nintendo thinks the name doesn't suck. Or thought, rather, I'm sure they're well aware by now that it's a disaster, hopeully they're planning on changing it next week. :)

Read the last 3 little paragraphs here ...

So why announce the name now and not at the show?

By letting the gaming community vent now about the name, they will be less distracted as launch titles for the system are announced and initial reports about what it's like to play the games begin to come in.

Also, said Kaplan, "We want people to understand our approach before we get to E3. [Also], it's really noisy at E3 and I don't think we would have had the chance to explain how we came to the name."

So yes, they knew the gaming community would not take this name in as a very acceptable name.

Again, it's all part of their marketing campaign and it worked perfectly.

how so? once people figure it out they just look like devious manupulative b*tches

because the Nintendo Wii is like the #1 topic on the damn internet and news right now. Last night they mentioned this on local news. I don't recall PS3 and XBox 360 getting their names on the news when their name was officially announced.

Why can't you nintendo fan boys see that that control is garbage.
Have you used it?
No, he just looked at it and decided it was dumb. He doesn't care if it will feel natural or how many new game play possibilities it could open up...
no thanks.. about as dumb as the stupid ass congobongo games... or all the other kiddy garbage (RE4 exempted) that nintendo puts out..

red steel is a perfect example of how lame the rev will be due mainly to nintendos family support rather than adult support.. no blood in the game at all.. I mean WTF.. how can you have a game about samurai swords and guns with no blood and dismemberment...

sorry Ill stick with MS/and Sony at least they cater more to adults..
Rofl, blood and dismemberment put fun in teh game!!11!!!!elvent one!!11

To me, games are all about fun. If a game that involves two boxes floating around the screen bumping into object turns out to be fun then I don't really care what it looks like. But that's me. I don't need to see blood and dismemberment to enjoy a video game. OMG I chopped his arms and legs off how fun is that!!!!11

BTW, I don't recall Eternal Darkness being a kid's game.

well if im gonna hit you with a sword whats the effect?
whats the point if all that happens is you fall down? big woop its been done before when technology was old.. this is the HD age.. we want photorealistic atmospheres, great physics and accurate damage modeling..
I have yet to see any blood or dismemberment in World of Warcraft, which now has something like 6 million addicts, er players, paying MONTHLY fees. Blood and dismemberment are not required for a good game. Good gameplay IS.

Doom 3 had lots of blood and gore and insanely good graphics at launch. I enjoyed the game, but you're not going to find a lot of people who say it's a great game because the gameplay factor was lacking.

A quote from the acticle... "If you already own all three <current gen systems>, and all the good games for all three, then I have to ask what it's like to read this site on a monitor made of solid gold. Maybe you can let me know after you finish that caviar burrito."

L. O. L. Not that that article's particularly worth reading--but here's the other good quote from it:
Besides the fact that this is the same sort of petty, angry tribalism that will one day destroy the human race, this phenomenon does more to destroy gaming pleasure than a thumb tumor. It does it by instilling a fear of buying a second game system out of a ridiculous sense of loyalty.

the remote is gyroscopic... move it up, mario jumps...

Why?

this system is going to surprise EVERYONE. can't say exactly why except i played it and if i had to chose that our my amazing PC with best graphics i'd say revolution...or Wii simply because it brought completely different elements into the gameplay and ended up being more fun than i could have ever expected.

going to sell like hotcakes
