<< The Panasonic 6-pack goes perfectly with the Panasonic FRS radios from the Amazon holiday deal though I'm having doubts about whether that rebate will come through. >>

That's weird, my $30 Panasonic FRS rebates arrived within 4 weeks of mailing them. I hope you followed the golden rules with rebates and:

Followed the rebate instructions.
Made copies of everything.
Sent it with delivery confirmation so you know it got there and when.

Is there anyway to get cheap delivery confirmation. In usps website,it says only parcel or priority mail can get delivery confirmation. The cost for priority mail is not cheap.

Does anybody know where to get extra C and D battery inserts. I searched on the internet. But I couldn't find any. If anybody can let me know I would appreciate it.

I got one but not sure about something:
"Charge ONLY panasonic Nickle-Metal Hydride or panasonic nickle cadmium batteries. Charge any other type of rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries may cause them to leak, rupture or explode ...blah blah"
"please immediately unplug the charger after the time indicated below; otherwiese, the batteries may overheat, leak or ...blah blah"

If so,maybe I should return it. I have some other brands rechargeable batteries and I don't like to watch the recharger to serve it. In fact,I like to charge them while I sleep.

ugh, they all say that.. theyt want u using their brand:p

IshmaelLever,
(I hope I got that right)
Been too long since the WalMart purchase to remember the price.
Mine came as a set with the four batteries. It is the one-hour unit.
Goes from dead to full in 60 min. every time.

Costco set is ok, 8 batteries (6aa + 2aaa + 2c adapters and 2d adapters) plus 4 aa charger for $25-$5.

Does anyone know where you can get the C&D battery adapters? I thought they had them at thomas but I didn't see them. I checked batteries.com and didn't notice them there either.

The Rayovac deal sounds great to me! But do you have to unplug it after the batteries recharge or can you leave them in overnight? From what I've read everyone is happy with the Rayovac NiMH batteries too.

Dman, the Panasonic charger kit is the first time I have seen the C and D cell inserts, but I wonder how effective they are. On the Thomas Distributing battery page, they list actual C and D NiMh's, but their power rating is 2200mHa, and the highest AA NiMh is 1800mHa, so I wonder how effective the inserts really are.

The batteries that come with the Panasonic charger kit are 1600mHa, which is perfectly able to power most anything that takes a AA cell, so it would be extremely helpfull if someone who purchased the Panasonic set tried out the C or D inserts with the AA's and gave their impression of the battery's actual performance.

From a thread @ FW:

Rayovac's charger does charge cells INDIVIDUALLY and has a power/rest period and also trickle charges so you can forget about them.

That quote is out of context - does (s)he mean forget about Rayovac or forget about someone else? If forget about Rayovac, why? Charging each cell individually sounds good plus trickle charge, etc. The 1 hour charge is really the attraction to me as is the 12 volt adapter. See the Rayovac.com website for more information.

edit: I found the post:

<< As usual -when it comes to batteries- the disturbed followers from thompson are disturbing the thread with their disturbing findings.

Of course none are in any way related to that organization, of course.

The rayovac "3-in-1" charger beats any charger from maha or other brands , as it does charge each cell INDIVIDUALLY. It has other goodies too, but I don't want to get lost in technical details.

And regarding the batteries: in a recent comparison from an unaffiliated and nonpayed or promoted (as those yadda yadda preachers for disturbing thompson) shows that the 1600mAH batteries from rayovac beat the overpriced (just compare the prices yourself) maha 1800mAH (How about 2100mAH, maha? Who can check that anyhow?) stuff.

$10 for such an exceptional charger PLUS 2 batteries is simply great!

I got mine from Kmart and they came with a $10 rebate at that time which came in 2 weeks, the fastest rebate I got ever.

So don't be fooled by those (nonpayed) comments of those disturbed (nonaffiliated) thompson preachers, just invest the $10 for this outstanding unit and see yourself.

He's a tad down on Maha but in general his comment sounds on the mark...

I bought the Costco set last month and already recieved my rebate :D. The AA's work great even in a high drain device like my old Kodak camera or my flashlight. The adaptors work perfectly for my sons toys and such but I don't have any high drain devices that take only 2 C or D cells (Only 2 adaptors of each in the pack). No way around it a great deal for $20 and the fastest rebate I've recieved yet.

What I like about the Panasonic from CostCo is they are 1600 mAH NiMH, includes a reasonably quick 5 hour charger, 6 AA's and 2 AAA's.

Not bad for only $19.99 and you can buy it locally instead of paying and waiting for shipping.

I'll still probably buy a MAHA charger from Sunnbattery.com off eBay since I sold the one I got last week to my sister.

I have mine in a HP digital camera. I haven't done any tests or anything to see how long they last but they are working great for general taking pictures.

<< Nice. Also, note that Sams has an Energizer Rechargeable pack. 8 1700mAH AA's and a travel charger for 20bucks. Sweet deal for gameboys, digicameras or whatever... >>

Does anyone know anything else about this set at sams? I don't have a costco near me, and i don't want to pay over 40 bucks to get a charger w/ 4 batteries from Thomas Distributing, so it looks like sams would be my best choice for the rechargeables. Will i need to unplug this charger right away after it finishes charging? I don't understand why it would be so hard for the people who design these to put in an auto-shutdown thing that kicks in after that amount of time... oh well

Lucjoe,

I bought the Energizer Rechargable batteries from Sam's club in December. The charger comes with a "trickle charge" feature which keeps the batteries topped off. Reading all of the info on the back of the box, I don't see it needing to be removed right after being charged, I think that is what the trickle feature helps out with. Since the charger charges NiCad and NIMH, it takes 7 hours to charge the NiCad and 14 hours to charge the NIMH batteries. When you put the batteries in a red indicator light comes on when the batteries are fully charged a green indicator light comes on.

I haven't seen these around lately at my local Sam's club. Don't remember the Sam's club Item number either....the Barcode number is 39800048196.

I can't really say how good these are in comparison to other rechargable batteries. I like them and use all of them on my digital camera. I use the LCD feature a lot on my camera and thus I am usually popping a few in and out of the camera every so often. Maybe, someone else who owns and uses them could comment on how much juice they get per charge.

Hope this helps

Hey All,

My wife bought me the Costco set yesterday at lunch

2 things are making me take it back...

1) No trickle charge (have to remove the batteries after XXX hours)(unlike my MaHa)

2) I put 4 AA batteries in it, plugged it in the wall, and it fell out on the floor. It was too top heavy. I took it around to about 6 outlets in my house and it fell out or came close to in 4 out of 6. (Again the Maha with a wall brick and cord is better)

My Maha is the way to go...I have had it for almsot 3 years and just now realized I can charge AAA's in it also...now I just gotta find some.

If I can figure out how to d/l picts from my Kodak DX3700 3.1MP digicam to PC then I can show you guys what it looks like but damn if I could figure out my digicam!

You should have gotten a USB cable with your camera... when you plug it into your computer, it shows up as an additional harddrive... at least that's the way it's been working on XP, 2000, and 98. I've got the DX3900 and that's how mine has been working.

OK, listen up everyone. I have a lot of experience with NiMH batteries and dealing with Sunnbattery as well as Thomas Distributing. Here's my take:

1) Don't buy any other charger except the Maha 204F if you are only interested in charging AA and AAA batteries. This is the best charger out there, bar none.

2) If you are going to buy AA batteries, don't buy anything less than 1800 mAH. Go on eGay, search for 1800 mah and there should be a whole bunch. Stick to a good brand like Nexcell or Gold Peak. The Gold Peak 1800 mAH are going for $2.00 each here. These are great batteries and for $2.00 each, you can't beat the price anywhere. Since it is a Dutch auction, you can get as many as you want for that price. I'd suggest getting about 20. Shipping is $5.50 regardless of how many batteries you order so you might as well get all that you think you'll need at once.

3) If you need a charger that can handle C, D, and 9V as well, then get something cheap like a Victor or Tyson charger. Those are not terribly fast chargers, but they are pretty safe and are of good build quality. I myself have a Tyson charger to charge my 9V. Btw, if you want 9V NiMH, don't buy from Sunnbattery or Thomas Distributing--their prices on 9V are pretty high for some reason. You can get decent 9V batteries from another guy on eGay, can't remember his ID but search for 9V nimh and you should find him. The picture of the 9V batteries should be pure WHITE. If you see some other brand, that's not the guy. The WHITE 9V NiMH batteries from this guy is about $2.00 or less each and is of good quality. I bought 16 of them and they work great.
