Costco has a set of 6 AA, 2AAA and one 5hour charger for $25. A $5 mail in rebate also printed out with the receipt to bring the cost down to $20.

The set also comes with 2 C & 2 D size adapters (the AA's fit inside to make them C or D size).

I think this Nickel Metal Hydride batteries as opposed to Nickel Cadmium batteries. You may want to check further to see if the charger can handle both.

Yeah, its the one in blue packaging. I look at that set everytime I go into Costco, then remind myself I have a quickcharger.

I am sitting on the fence about buying the 6pk 1600mAh Panasonic NiMh at Costco for $12.99 (no rebate), I walk out with it,

OR

Waiting and getting a 4pk of 1700-1800mAh from Thomas Distb. for $9.99 + S/H. Nice to walk out with the batteries in hand, and I have a MaHa fast trickle charger. But the higher rated NiMh's are tempting. I have 4 of the MAHA AA cells, and they have been great.

Anyone have the Panasonic AA NiMh's and care to comment on their quality? I should be getting my Rio SP90 tomorrow, and I figure I will be needing a few more batteries.

The batteries are Panasonic. The batteries are silver with red and yellow "swooshes". The packaging is mostly black and gold.

These batteries are NiMH. The back of the package says the charger can recharge nickle cadmium but you must unplug charger after a certain amount of time (it gives the time amount on the package, depending on battery type).

Where did you get the $12.99 price from? I thought it was $24.99 less $5 MIR = $19.99 final

I bought 8 Nexcell AA 1600 mAH's w/ MAHA charger & car adapter from Sunnbattery.com through their eBay auction and so far I am VERY HAPPY with it. These batteries are excellent, even better the charger is really nice. I'm not sure if the batteries arrive with a slight charge but my very first charge only took 2 hours.

It's very tempting to walk out of CostCo today with batteries in hand or pay a little more, get a better product and wait for them via mail.

Choices, choices, choices.

I'm not sure what one maverick319 is talking about. I didn't see any other Panasonics at the Costco I went to yesterday. The ones I bought were $24.99 with $5 MIR. You get 6 AA, 2 AAA, 2 C adapters, 2 D adapters and a charger (holds 4 batteries at once). They are Panasonic NiMH 1600 mAh.

They were located on the end of the row with the rest of the batteries (so you can notice them from the main aisle). I didn't see them there last time I went so they might be new at Costco. The packaging says "Panasonic DIGITAL" in big letters across the top.

Maverick319 - If you can indeed get the Panasonics for only $12.99 I would go that route. I doubt your RIO MP3 Player isn't as much of a "high drain" device as a digital camera is. Of course you could go full hog and get the new Gold Peak 1800 mAH's *drool*

IshmaelLeaver - Sunnbattery.com's eBay userid is ptron1.

If you're looking for excellent rechargeable batteries then get Gold Peak, Nexcell or Powerex.

I placed my Buy It Now bid for $37.95 on 8 AA NEXCELL 1600MAH MAH + MAHA 204F CHARGER last Thursday 2/21 and received them Monday 2/25 via USPS Priority. Damn that was fast!

I've already charged 4 1600 mAH's and am charging the 2nd set right now.

I went to Las Vegas, and it was CLOSED? Damn, Costco's website wasn't the best, but it's "temporarily closed"?

I should clarify. My Costco (Winston Salem) has two Panasonic battery sets:

The 6AA, 2AAA and charger is $24.99 with a $5.00 MIR

OR

A 6AA pack for $12.99, with NO charger.

I already have a charger, so I think I will take RossMan's advice and just get them local. But I highly recommend Thomas Distributing should you need higher mAh batteries. And no, I do not work for them or have any affiliation with them. I was just impressed by their products and service.

Maverick319 - That's an excellent price 6 Panasonic AA 1600 mAH's for $12.99 out the door, I'd definitely jump on that.

Nice. Also, note that Sams has an Energizer Rechargeable pack. 8 1700mAH AA's and a travel charger for 20bucks. Sweet deal for gameboys, digicameras or whatever...

Ok, I just got back from Costco and purchased the 6pk of Panasonic 1600mAh batteries for $12.99

The Part Number for the package is: Item# 427255

That number is also the SKU on my receipt.

The part number on the individual battery itself is: HHR-3UP

If you local Costco doesn't stock the 6pack, maybe you can get a manager to order you some. Never tried that at Costco, but you never know. I already have a trickle charger, so the $20.00 set didn't do me any good.

I got one but not sure about something:
"Charge ONLY panasonic Nickle-Metal Hydride or panasonic nickle cadmium batteries. Charge any other type of rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries may cause them to leak, rupture or explode ...blah blah"
"please immediately unplug the charger after the time indicated below; otherwiese, the batteries may overheat, leak or ...blah blah"

If so,maybe I should return it. I have some other brands rechargeable batteries and I don't like to watch the recharger to serve it. In fact,I like to charge them while I sleep.

DarkAngle, if leaving them in the charger (what I do) is important to you, then you should invest in a trickle charger.

There are many out there, this is the one I have.

I really like mine, and it has performed flawlessly for the past 2 years. They sell it with batteries or without.

I believe the warning on the package deals more with NiCad, but the batteries can get hot so use your best judgement.

Just for everyone's FYI, BJs also has the Panasonic batteries (both the charger set and just AA battery set) for the same prices as Costco.

I got the Ray0Vac system with the 1-hour charger and the four - 1800 NiMH at Wal-mart.

Couldn't be happier...The Minolta Dimage7 is the BIGGEST battery hog out there (by all accounts).

It charges cadmiums, also.

Not a crap, just my $.03

I picked this up at CostCo B&M tonight for $25 and the $5 rebate prints out at the register.

If I can figure out how to d/l picts from my Kodak DX3700 3.1MP digicam to PC then I can show you guys what it looks like but damn if I could figure out my digicam!

I'll probably buy some 1600 mAH or the newest top of the like Gold Peak 1800 mAH rechargeable batteries, the popular MAHA charger and car adapter from Sunnbattery.com's eBay auctions.

IshmaelLeaver - I saw the Rayovac 1 hour quick charger at Target B&M tonight with 2 AA 1600 mAH batteries it was $29.99

I've also got the Maha fast charger from Thomas Distributing and the 6-pack Panasonic AA's from Costco and haven't had any problems charging them. Other than capacity there's really not that much difference from one NiMH to another.

The Panasonic 6-pack goes perfectly with the Panasonic FRS radios from the Amazon holiday deal though I'm having doubts about whether that rebate will come through.
