Is Canon 20D better than Nikon D70s? I was at Henrys today and they suggested Canon 20D over Nikon. What are some of your thoughts?

You may want to consider buying it locally, at least that's what I would do with cameras even if it costs a bit more.

Which one's better Rebel xt or nikon D70s ? Why?

Better find out before making that purchase.

Well when i was choosing between the D70 and the DReb i went D70 for a few reasons.

1) The DReb felt cheap, almost like a plastic toy. The D70 felt much more substantial and more "professional"
2) The layout of the buttons on the D70 was much more pleasing and user friendly for me. The dual dials, info LCD on top, everything was right where i liked it.
3) The 18-70 kit lens on the D70 was substantially better than the 18-55 kit lens on the DReb. For instance the 18-70 ED that comes with the Nikon sells for around $300-$400 on its own, the 18-55 w/ the DReb sells for i believe around $150 or so.

That being said i LOVE my D70. Best purchase i've ever made.

it is because of folks like aphex, anubis, and virtuamike that i went with a d70 as well. it's a great camera. :)

i actually chose mine because i allready had 5 nikon lenses

if i didnt i prob woudl have bought a 10D, the fisher price toy called the 300D was never considered

its got 2 more mp, which arnt relaly that important, its a tad faster, if you need that, its more expensive, noone needs that, and it has better high ISO noise, which for me is a non issue because i never shoot that high of an ISO, ever

Bottom line which one is better, canon or nikon? Many people claim that Canon takes better photo at higher ISO's?

Please tell me if I am correct but as I understand I would use higher ISO when its dark and not enough light?

THanks

Yes, you'd use high ISO for low light conditions. Or you could buy something like the 50mm or 85mm f1.8 in order to keep your ISO down.

It's a tossup. The XT is better than the D70 in certain areas, and the D70 has features that the XT lacks. Bottom line they're very close so you can't go wrong with either one. I can tell you why I went with Nikon, but that's just my personal opinion and purely subjective.

In general, 20D > D70s ~ 350D > 300D. In all of them, the price-to-performance ratio is excellent for the sector they're in, you just need to figure out which one fits your needs. You might not be willing to be as daring with a 20D as a 300D, for instance.

FYI, 350D = Rebel XT, 300D = regular Rebel.
