Bought one of these today. Looked like a good deal on a good camera.

Sold my Fuji 2600Z for cheap to a co-worker. So, I'm only out $50 bucks or so to upgrade.

Just placed an order last night, and recieved an email to call them regarding the order. While the person on the other end of the phone was trying to sell me accessories for the cameara, he was very courteous and didn't make any hard press to sell. I just told him that I've already ordered memory from another location (which I have), and that I wanted to test out the battery before I decide if I want to order a second one (which is also true).

Great place to deal with. Can't wait to get this puppy in my hands.

Same here. While I didn't really mind it, I'm glad that few online places operate like this. It would be annoying as hell to have a salesman call you and upsell every time you ordered something.

just ordered mine... great deal, thanks

should i just not even call them "regarding order" to avoid the hard sell garbage?

Might as well call 'em. Only takes about 2 minutes if you get them. Also, it doesn't help to leave a message saying you don't need anything extra. I did that and he still called back with a couple pitches.

FWIW, I bought this case ($15): LINK

Very well built. It fits the camera perfectly with stretchy sides. It has a front pocket big enough for a card or battery (I put my Maxell battery there). The pocket inside is made of soft felt for protection. The camera also has a strap when you need it and a velcro belt loop. The case is very svelte so it fits easily in shirt pockets.

No need to call. I received the same email. My email came from rep, KEN. I ordered the 25th, just got shipped email confirm today 26th. I didnt call at all.

I just received the same e-mail, but from Patrick... I'm going to try not giving them a call and seeing if it ships anyways. Well, unless I get really bored on my lunch hour, that is...

I picked the cheapest shipping (claimed 6-9 days maybe?) and it was sent out as 2-Day delivery. I'll have it tomorrow. It's not 1 day, but it's better than a week.

I just got mine today. If you ignore all of their calls eventually they give up and just mail it out. Pretty annoying business practice if you ask me. Probably won't buy from them again.

BTW, does anyone know how big of a memory card this camera will support? ECost has a 1 GB card for $84 which seems pretty good.

Not sure on the card size. I ended up getting a 512 card from zipzoom.com for $27AR and free shipping. Seems like they run '2-Day Free shipping' sales off and on throughout the day sometimes. Don't think it was the newer, speedier card, but I'm not picky.

What brand card? In the manual the only 512 mb card they recommend is Philips. I'm not sure how seriously to take their "recommended memory" thing.

I never received the "shipped" e-mail yet, so I just called the guy and he of course tried to upsell me... Says it'll ship tomorrow and take 7 business days to get here... wtf... I want the free 2-Day like you guys, lol.

Not sure exactly what brand. Both are supposed to be in tomorrow afternoon. I can report back if you want. The card was $42 with a $15 rebate, I believe. Hopefully it works.

Wait till you get your tracking number. You may very well get the 2nd day shipping.

FYI, you can get replacement batteries for these for $10 shipped on ebay. Just bought one.

Costs practically just as much as the disposable ones, in case you want to buy one as a "last-ditch backup" to keep in your glove box or something. This camera deal keeps getting sweeter and sweeter. Can't wait to get it.

.

I ordered mine this morning and just like most of you have said I got a call from a sales rep trying to sell me stuff. I told him that their accessories were too expensive in hopes he would offer some kind of discount. Well, I didn't get a discount, but our conversation ended after that.

Was about to buy a Canon A400, but this looks to be a much nicer camera for even less money. Thanks for posting!

Since writing this, I did a bit of checking around the reviews for this camera, and the A400. While the Nikon has some nicer features (3x zoom compared to 2.2 on the Canon), I'd say the Canon wins on the thing that really matters, image quality. Easiest thing to point out would be look at the leaves on the trees in the pics, they look noticeably soft/unfocused in the nikon, while they're much sharper with the Canon, which retails for ~$150, no rebates.

just fyi (not arguing quality etc)

that picture example i put in my link was taken with the "portrait" setting

so the butterfly is in focus, but the stems behind it are deliberately "faded" to give more focus to the the center of the picture.
