SWEEEEEETTTT!!!

it works! finally, your player will be able to recognize external memory cards that arent Sandisk. the one i'm using is a kingston. the tracks on the MMC card show up after all the tracks on your internal memory. the only weird thing is that you HAVE to transfer the tracks to the card while its in the player and through their software. i tried to do it through WMP, and although it recognizes the player under tools, options, devices... i cant get it to recognize the player when i'm actually trying to copy to it.

i had hoped i could simply transfer songs to the card via my MMC Zio! reader but i guess not 🙁

oh well, at least we can take advantage of the extra memory now!!!!

and just to let you guys know, even though i'm not sure if this actually helped, i emailed nike.com several times with links to all the review sites and consumer review sites (ie epinions.com) where the player had gotten bad reviews because of the problems as well as this thread. i mentioned to them that the poor quality customer service from diamond and the problems with the player were tainting their well established name. 😀😀😎

Tenest is right, the player now works with HBxxxxxx memory. I upgraded the firmware to 1.60, and it works!!!! Now I'v e got a 96mb player for around $59 dollars after rebate. Not bad!!! I haven't tried it with other programs beside NAM, but I will do so later and report back here. It might not be a bad idea to put up a separate post with this info.

<< Still looking for a decent 64 MB MMC Card for this device. Anyone find one at a decent price?😉 >>

if you can catch dell during one of their sales, thats the best deal. i picked up 64megs for less than $40. otherwise, go with buy.com, the have a 64meg sandisk for $44.95... linky

<< Go to the download center
Microsoft Media Player Download Center

There are two apps that will do this. Windows Media Encoder 7.0 or Audio Converter 3.0. I couldnt link the actual app so use the dropdown to grab the app you want.

Audio Converter 3.0 is part of the Windows Media Player Bonus Pack
-This one offers Audio Converter 3.0 (limited edition) which works great for batch conversions

I can't find the Windows Media Player Bonus Pack for any operating system other than XP at the above site. Does anyone know where I can find the Bonus Pack for 98/se/ME/2000?

Thanks.

Sorry bro, it was a best buy clearance/rebate at the beginning of december...

You won't believe this!

I had a problem with mine. Somehow I fried the internal memory...could not, download files, flash the ROM or anything. Called and got an RMA for a replacement. Guess what they sent back? A psa[paly 120!!

Now, $30 for a 64MB mp3/wma player is a really hot deal!

😀

thats essentially what happened to me. i went through 3 players at Circuit City. after the 3rd manager said "screw it" and gave me a psa[play 120. Gotta love the armband!!!

what went wrong with the players you returned? I got one a couple weeks ago but haven't gotten to use it much(one time) but want to know the warning signs to look out for.

thanks

I'm not sure exactly what happened internally to the unit. I was at the gym and went to press the "skip to next song" "button area" on the main unit (I didn't have the remote connected) and I heard a horrible screeching sound in the headset and the music stopped. (I don't know if I actually pressed two "buttons" simultaneously or not. It is hard to tell with "button area" on these units.) I tried to "rewind" but I could not. I then tried to "fast-forward" to the next song and that worked. I then, again, tried to "rewind" to the song before the one that was playing when the screeching occurred but, again, no luck. I got it home and tried to delete the entire contents of the unit but could not. I then attempted to flash it up to the newest firmware but the process hung. After that I couldn't do a thing with it. 🙁

I called Customer Service and they put me thorough some basic trouble-shooting steps. Interestingly, the first thing they asked me to do was open the battery cover and bend the little spring/battery holder (positive end) out a little. Nothing worked. They issued an RMA and I sent it back (I had to pay shipping 🙁 ).

The turn-around time was a little long (sent 17DEC01 received 07JAN02), but, as it turned out, it has been worth the wait! 🙂 It's funny, while I was waiting for the return, I was looking for a good deal on MMC to upgrade the "60" to "120."

haha yeah that's awesome that you got a 120 out of it, that is a pretty long turn around time, but I guess the holidays could have something to do with it, oh well hope that 120 keeps workin' for ya

is the rebate still legit? when does (did?) the rebate expire? if it still is, can anyone who has a soft
copy of the rebate send it to me?

i just saw a couple at BB in robison township (pittsburgh). i asked the people there about the rebate but no one
seemed to know anything about it...

i'm a little late to act on this but i'll see if it's still legit.

thanks in advance!

Uhh, no. These went like the first few hours they were available at the beginning of December.

Still none here.... Didnt it say 6-8 weeks? That passed 2 or so weeks ago, didnt it?

got my rebate yesterday as well. i thought it was interesting that the rebate ended up being from sonic blue direct and NOT from CC. best $30 i've spent lately! 😉
